January 21, 201115 yr I tried finding an old thread on this, but couldn't find one, so I apologize if there was one. Just watched this last night. Thought it was a really good movie, but wow! Mark Zuckerberg is the biggest jerk/tool I've ever seen. What a lowlife. What everyone think of the movie? Thoughts?

January 21, 201115 yr Author I didn't see the movie yet but I read the book. What makes the guy look like a tool? He's an arrogant jerk to everyone (even before he became rich and famous). He screws his best friend and the co-founder out of the company, and to top it off, he stole the idea from two other guys that he went to Harvard with. Ended up paying $65 Million to the two guys he stole the idea from in a lawsuit settlement. Edited January 21, 201115 yr by UKMustangFan

I'm not saying he is or isn't but I'm not going to let one guy who directs a movie sway my opinion. Read the book. Good read.

January 21, 201115 yr I know it's embellished, but it's a fact that he screwed over his only friend and stole the idea from the other guys. "It's not personal...it's BUSINESS".
January 21, 201115 yr The movie was based on the book "Accidental Billionaire" by Ben Mezrich. Mezrich told the FB people when writing the book that he was "most interested in telling the most interesting story." That right there should tell you how to view the story.
January 21, 201115 yr Meant to put best friend. So if I asked you how you know what parts of the movie are true and which are embellished what would your answer be? Did the one guy's shares really get reduced to less than 1%? Did the guy really start it to get girls? How do I know which scenes I should believe?
January 21, 201115 yr Author So if I asked you how you know what parts of the movie are true and which are embellished what would your answer be? Did the one guy's shares really get reduced to less than 1%? Did the guy really start it to get girls? How do I know which scenes I should believe? The basic parts of the plot are true. Obviously they embellished and put some filler in to make an a more entertaining movie. He created Facebook. He got in trouble at Harvard. He stole the idea from other students. He cut out the co-founder/best friend. He got sued by 2 separate groups. Those are facts. Most of the rest was probably embellished. Still tells me everything I need to know about the guy.
January 21, 201115 yr Author "It's not personal...it's BUSINESS". Within the framework of the law, you won't find anyone who agrees more with that quote than UKMF. However, what he did was against the law, which is why he had to shell out (presumably) over $100MM to settle lawsuits.

However, what he did was against the law, which is why he had to shell out (presumably) over $100MM to settle lawsuits. He paid $65M in stock and cash to the twins. Seems like a lot but not when you're worth billions. If you were worth billions is it possible you would paid just to make this go away even though in your heart you knew you were innocent? Do you want this lawsuit dragging on? Do you want to run the risk of a jury going the other way? You certainly can agree that paying to make something go away even though one is innocent is not uncommon, right?
