I think now is a good time to point out that Southern Baptists believe and teach differently than Progressive Baptists, who differ from Episcopalians, who differ from Methodists, who differ from Presbyterians, who differ from Pentecostals....you do realize all are Christian denominations, as is the Catholic faith, and all have differences. Yet none are any less Christian than the others, as the definition of Christian is belief in Christ.

Crazy Horse, not sure you're aware of this, but there are actually US citizens that can't speak English. So why should they have to leave America again?

At the same time, I think it shows the flaws of going "strictly by the constitution" instead of using common sense, or even yet *gasp* changing the constitution to fit current standards.

 

The Bible states several things, including those who work on the Sabbath shall be put to death and fathers shall sell their daughters into slavery. A lot of people like to clutch the Bible and take their life's direction from it. Yet, we're allowed to gloss over the "old laws" because we now have the New Testiment, which, in a sense, outlaws and updates the Old Testament laws.

 

I think it's time we developed a "New Testament" for our constitution.

 

The only problem is we have a house full of idiots and self-interest mongers who would oversee such a rewrite.

True story. When my dad started as a middle-school guidance counselor in the mid-60s, the principal insisted on reading the morning announcements. He occasionally butchered the language.

 

On at least one occasion, he announced that students were not permitted to conjugate in the hallways.

Yes Catholics believe in the same principles Christians believe in, just a different way of practicing it and ritituals. Some preachers preach Catholics will not go to heaven, but I have a lot of friends who are Catholic and I just simply can't bring myself to believe that.
