HATE, I hate no one, especially those who cant help the situation they are in, for example, most poor Mexicans cant help it. I do feel sorry for them, but to rip off MY COUNTRY because THEY ARE NOT CITIZENS HERE, is unacceptable for me. Maybe it is OK for all you rich people in Northern KY and Louisville, but not the poor down south. I fly an American Flag, not a rebel flag, but if I did it would be because of my Southern Pride, not for being racist. By the way I am a Christian and most all Mexicans are Catholic. Christians and Catholics have 2 very different ways of practicing religion.

I am not an Indian, but they did get ripped off. I am not racist, just do not agree with my taxes feeding a person who don't work and is a piece of crap for pretty much stealing form hard working people. I have a family to feed too, why feed someone who isn't even an American. Let Venezuela feed them, they are rich. Just like when they complained about us for sending illegals back, they marched in the streets claiming ot be for USA, but had Mexican flags. How smart is this.

Yes Catholics believe in the same principles Christians believe in, just a different way of practicing it and ritituals. Some preachers preach Catholics will not go to heaven, but I have a lot of friends who are Catholic and I just simply can't bring myself to believe that.

 

So if you didn't have any Catholic friends you could believe that? I guess it's too bad you don't have any Muslim friends.

Well if they are an American Citizen, they should want to learn our English, the only american citizens I know that dont speak English are those who had illegal parents and never taught them English or they are non-born americans who became citizens. Either way they should want to speak English.

Why should a Mexican-American immigrant who went through the proper legal channels to become an American citizen want to speak English? If their entire family still lives in Mexico, and they live here solely for the purpose of working, why should they want to speak English?

Research shows that traditionally, the first generation for an immigrant family (legal or otherwise) tends to speak mainly their birth language. The second generation become bilingual. The third generation tends to be fluent only in the adopted country's language.

If the person went through the proper legal channels to become an American citizen, then they should know how to read and write in English considering it is one of the requirements unless the person is physically or mentally unable to.

This seems kind of vague to me:

The ability to read, write and speak ordinary English unless they are physically unable to do so due to a disability such as being blind or deaf, or suffer from a developmental disability or mental impairment. Those over 50 years old on the date of filing who have lived here for a total of at least 20 years after admission as a permanent resident and those who are over 55 and have been legal permanent residents for at least 15 years are also exempt from this requirement.

 

What level of English is "ordinary". I see so many American citizens that are not immigrants who can't properly put a sentence together, spell, or even use a word correctly. To me, that eliminates them meeting that requirement. Couple that with the millions of kids who make it through both primary and secondary education levels without ever learning to read, or having a very low level of reading competence, and I think I'd rather interact with an immigrant speaking a foreign language who at least knows how to speak correctly in that language.
