You still just don't get it do you. Where or when Mason wins has NOTHING to do with what this thread is discussing. The thread is about the few things that Mason needs to correct, student seating, etc. Everyone agrees Mason has won everywhere. :deadhorse:

 

Lets move it to Augusta, have everyone park in downtown Maysville and ride the boat down the river to Augusta. There is a couple of nice dining places once off of the boat in Augusta, it would be like parking at Hooters and riding over to the Reds game. I would be there to greet each person getting off the boat with those famous words, take your time, watch your step and please hold on to your ticket to ride back, lol. Ah this thread is nuts, the Fieldhouse is just fine, and I agree with another poster, the schools that complain the most is GRC and Montgomery and they are likely gone in a few years any how. I think some of these posts are laying out exactly the issues that have grown in the 10th. The mind-set is this is the way it is so deal with it. The reality is treat the tournament with respect or it may not be in the Fieldhouse for 40yrs straight. Instead it will be rotated and you get to host one maybe two years out of four. I wouldn't mind it at all. I've ran much larger events than this one. I can tell you changes that would be made immediately. One, students wouldn't be allowed to sit behind opposing teams benches and two fans would be designated an appropriate area to sit in. The home team is the home team and the visiting team is the visiting team regardless of location or facility.

Run the Tournament as you would want it run if it was at another facility. When the Tourny director can't do what is right in the first place, the rest of that sentance has no merit.

I am sure all the concerns for 142 posts would magically disappear if this was held at Augusta. If GRC and Montgomery are re-aligned, what about the other schools? That still doesn't mean the existing problem just won't go away.

Why is everyone ignoring the fact that Clark County had to option of what bench to take and chose to take the bench in front of the student section. Yeah yeah I know it should have been predetermined and fair to both teams but their coach chose to put his team on that bench. They lost the game due to jacking up ill advised three pointers down the stretch and not taking care of business on the floor, not because they sit in front of a student section. They were the far superior team and let Mason County hang around and get the win at the end. The loss falls on the players and the coaching staff! If blaming everyone and everything for the loss makes you all feel better that is fine. This is a new season and Clark County is the clear cut favorite at this time to win the region. It is up to the players to get it done! It should not matter where they put their uniform on or where their bench is located on the floor.

By the way, I already said no home court advantage in 2009 at BOK. I'm not familiar with 2009 at Mont. Co. But there definately was a home court advantage at 2010 at Mason. Do you disagree?

Doesn't matter who won. EVERYBODY acknowledges GRC has choked the past two years. In 2008, Mason Co. was the huge favorite and nothing else mattered. Still doesn't take away the fact that when played at the Fieldhouse, there is a home court advantage.

Actually, we have enough parking here, so if you want to save yourself the cost of passage on a boat then you'll be fine. Partake in our excellent concession stand while you are there and enjoy the Hoosier style feel of the gym during the games.

I have not said one time that it is not an advantage for Mason to play in the fieldhouse but I think some of the arguements in this thread had nothing to do with the actual game and how it was played. I agree that playing on the goals you practice on everyday is more comfortable but most of these kids play basketball all year around with AAU, camps, etc. They are used to playing in different gyms and all kinds of different environments. They could have played that game in Madison Square Gardens last year and if Clark County would have played the way they did at the end of that game they would have lost. Mason had the best teams in 2008 and 2009 and went into two different gyms and was able to win the game with no home court advantage. Clark County had the best team last year and was not able to get the job done. You can make all the excuses in the world but the team did not perform up the the level that they expected or the fans expected. They are once again the favorite to win at this point in the season. I think they would represent the 10th Region well this year and would have to be one of the favorites if they make it to Rupp.
