Will Pawsat return? I haven't heard an update on him in a while, anyone know? Seems like Mason Co. misses his presence on the court, hope the best for his recovery, hate to see a young man injured and unable to play.

11th Lex Cath and Henry Clay seem to be playing better than many thought

10th. Bracken Co and Campbell Co have also done well thus far. Augusta also has some nice wins

Frankfort in the 11th region is doing better than was expected.

Boone County may be a little so far. I think they were picked #2 or #3 in the 9th and are currently ranked 5th with a 9-5 record. Still plenty of time, however.

Starting the season unranked in NKY, I would say that Campbell County is overachieving.

I agree about Lloyd over achieving since they only won 6 games last year and are sitting at 9-6 at present time with some good wins and good close games. They do have 4 seniors that are playing well and I think one kid is out with a broken hand. I think come tournament time they could give opponents fits. GO JUGG'S. JD

I agree, the kid is the glue and the heart and soul of that team. Its all about timing and when teams peak that factors into post season play. Word is that Pawsat is progressing really good, and looks to be ready to go in a few weeks.

Boone is underachieving I'd say. The loss of Travis doesn't help. But I expected a lot more out of the Rebels.

Agreed. I remember our discussing them as a team to keep an eye on in the 11th this year over the summer if some of the nucleus around the inside-out combo of Davis and Yarbrough. I haven't seen them play this year (as compared to four times last year), but would speculate that last year's seniors such as Hagans and the two Walkers are greatly missed for more than just their production on the court.

One team that I would add to the 'Overachiever' category is Knott County Central.

 

Last year, their run to the Sweet 16 was largely predicated on the play of guards Stuart Stamper and Tate Cox. Additionally, this year's team had to replace departing seniors Braxton Ratliff and Zack Mullins, as well as their Head Coach Dave Fraley. The 2010-2011 edition of the Patriots are now playing under their third coach in as many years, and have an impressive record, especially considering that they have played a considerable portion of the season without Zack Davis, who started for their regional championship squad in 2010 and was going to be counted upon heavily this year.

Looking at their overall body of work, this certainly exceeded my expectations for the team coming into this year, even more-so considering that they would lose Davis.

Also, if we are going by consensus rankings from the beginning of the year, I would have to say that Ballard could qualify as an overachiever. I know that plenty of people had them highly ranked and/or thought that they would be an extremely solid team, but looking back into the preseason, I doubt that many would have predicted that they were as good as they've proven to date. The main reason that they flew under the radar early was the amount of production lost and the questions about the who's and how's of replicating their past success, but so far, most of these have been answered emphatically. Just to prove my point, the 2010-2011 edition of Cat's Pause magazine had Ballard rated at #8... in the 7th Region.

 

After a slight stumble to district rival Seneca last week, Ballard still has some work to do to prove they belong in the same breath as Jeffersontown and Eastern, but have a chance to prove it with games scheduled against each and the opportunity to gain even more quality wins should they continue advancing in the LIT.
