January 2, 201115 yr Let's say Rich is shown the gate... Harbaugh is going to have a lot of options and Les Miles said no three years ago. Who would be next in Ann Arbor if they can not land one of these two?
January 2, 201115 yr Brady Hoke would walk to Ann Arbor naked if he had to to get the job. Dan Mullen probably couldn't say no to Michigan, I think he's honestly the best fit given what they have right now.
January 2, 201115 yr Harbaugh is the number one guy. He is also 1 on the Niners list and the Broncos are interested. I'd say it's going to come down to if he wants to go college or Pro. Somebody is going to have to pay for him because he's got a ton of leverage. Tough to turn down the Pros but to go back to your school that is really struggling (compared to what they once were) and turn that thing around is a shot of a lifetime.
January 2, 201115 yr As a Michigan fan, I hope they let Rich Rod get at least 1 more year. Bringing in Harbaugh with this personnel means waiting at least a couple more seasons before significant success. Just get someone in here that can coach up that D and allow these kids to develop. Rich Rod can turn it around.
January 2, 201115 yr Incidentally, if they don't get Harbaugh, they start to throw some money around and try to get Urban Meyer, Jon Gruden, Tony Dungy or someone like that, IMO. Brady Hoke would be a smart choice, but you can't sell him to Wolverine fans, IMO.
January 2, 201115 yr Regardless of what happens with coaches, defense is a major issue needing addressed in Ann Arbor.
January 2, 201115 yr Regardless of what happens with coaches, defense is a major issue needing addressed in Ann Arbor. Absolutely!!! Please don't waste Robinson's talent on O by never giving him a defense to support him.
January 2, 201115 yr Defense will not and cannot be good until they get some more players in that secondary. It's FCS caliber IMO.
January 2, 201115 yr Defense will not and cannot be good until they get some more players in that secondary. It's FCS caliber IMO. 6 true freshmen and a sophomore former walk-on occupy 7 of the 8 spots in the 2 deep. They will mature and be better, but there are 4 kids coming in including Blake Countess. They need a defensive system that everyone can get behind and have success in. The odd stack isn't great for the Big 10 and, right now, there is no real system that fits the personnel.
January 2, 201115 yr Reports say the Elway is going after Harbaugh for the Bronco job. The smart thing is to keep RR, unless he refuses to replace the DC. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that offense.
January 2, 201115 yr I personally hope that whoever the team up north gets as coach that they continue to lose. GO BUCKS! So, where does Michigan go from here? I have a suggestion. Actually, I respect the Michigan football tradition. I obviuosly want OSU to embarrass them at every opportunity but I do not hate them like alot of OSU fans do. (except for the RR years). Michigan under Schembechler and Carr was played the right way and with class, just good football. Bo Schembechler imo was as good as any coach to ever coach the game........ Other than Bear Bryant, no one imo on his level.
January 2, 201115 yr Michigan is sold only an Michigan guy to do the job. I think Rich Rod needs more time to get more kids with speed in there. Big Ten footbal is still slow foot style.

Unfortunately I don't think they're going to give RR enough time.

They are young and they should get better, with that I agree. But, it's not like this is his first year there and he inherited it. Michigan has not improved defensively at all during his tenure. He has to get some of the blame for being in this position.
