Does anyone know if this is allowed by KHSAA rules or not?

 

I thought the announcer was supposed to be an impartial, neutral party, sort of like an official.

 

Inflection in voice is one thing; but out and out cheerleading is another, the only thing that guy didn't have was Pom Pom's!

 

I was actually wondering the same thing. I would think that, particularly in a playoff game, this might be against KHSAA rules.

 

Not that it actually had any impact on the game - I'm just curious about the regulations on this.

He was just cheerleading the whole game. Screaming to the crowd to "Get on your feet and make some noise for the BULLDOGS!!!" and other things like it the whole game. I thought it was kinda funny but I could see where it would get on opposing fans nerves.

 

As I understood JH was hosting this tounament, it's not that they had won home field advantage, and I don't believe the PA announcer was a very gracious host.

I was at the game and the PA was not showing unsportsman like conduct, he WAS partial toward the home team. He did inform and was not doing play-by-play. He was positive toward the guests (not negative) just a little more positive towards the home team. He was very respectful to all. Was he annoying at times? Yes. But I think it is a little petty to be talking about this.

Chalk it up to inexperience, they are a new program and do not have all the post season experience that you do. :fight:

Yeah, think that some of us take this foir granted. I have coached for teams that were lucky to have a PA guy that knew enough to say anything of value at a game. That would be a disservice to all fans and more importantly the players. This I can suffer through. While we may have problems we can all hope to be able to attain a level of professionalism that some schools are already enjoying. That would only benefit the players and fans.

Again, remember the PA guy's team lost, my comments were the way he carried on as time was running out of the Male JH that they won.

Agree don't take away from a great game!!!

Even though I was on the winning side, I guess I'm kind of old school, I like have personalities behind the PA. That's what gives part of the atmosphere for the home team. Now, if the KSHAA has a rule for HOSTING a playoff game, they need to send out reminder to hosting schools of items they would like the PA to follow. I wasn't at the Male-JH game, so I can't comment on his performance, but at the X game I didn't have a problem. During regular season I don't see a big issue (with some limits), but they should be notified by KSHAA to tone it down during the playoffs
