Coaching Change at Whitley

Featured Replies

Not real sure that Magistrate/Coach Foley would be interested...

Any idea when Whitley will make their choice?

I saw somewhere that he was replacing Patrick until the election.

Don't doubt Tommy being on the Campbell Field sidelines next season, on a regular basis, if you know what I mean.

Please share your knowledge.

Heard the same thing, That 'Red Bone' Mike Patrick would be takinga frankfort job and Coach Burley Foley would be replacing him. Anybody know the truth about that?

I could see Burley replacing Patrick until the election, but I'm not sure about him running for that office.

I was told that he was staying because of Tandy, but he has a lot of family in Corbin and maybe they will sway him to reconsider. His wife has an administrative job with the school system, so there would also have to be an opening made available for her.

His wife getting an administrative job is what held up the announcement of his hireing at Christian Co. in 2001. The job they wanted wasn't available for her. Christian Co. gave him the take it or leave it offer and Mike eventually took it. His wife was an Asst. Principal at Hopkinsville High School before she was moved to another position in the system.

Whitaker will probably stay for next year since Tandy is back at QB. Other then him though they lost a lot and won't have that deep WR threat like they've had the last 2 years. It also looks like Defensive Coord. Steve Lovelace is staying and that would be the first time in Whitaker's tenure that he has had the same Defensive Coord. in consecutive years since coaching at Christian Co.

Mike's taken some criticsm for his scheduling at Christian Co. and for the constant coaching changes at the Defensive Coord. posisition. He also took some rips from some Christian Co. people for his comments after they lost to Warren Central in the playoffs. Whitaker blamed the loss on the officiating and blasted them pretty good. That didn't sit well with some people who doesn't want to be a program known for blaming officials when they lose. But I know Whitaker was not happy with the officials in that last game but he also made simular comments in 2003 when they were eliminated.

I don't know about Mike's scheduling at Christian Co. but he'll get over blaming the officiating as soon as all the REDHOUND rubs off. :D

This from someone who had the following to say about a JV basketball game involving the Redhounds and Clay Co.

This will all be decided Jan. 9th when the Hounds come to Clay. The officiating will be straight up and fair there (as allways) so the best team will win and it will all be settled. Thank You.

I can find more if need be.

I believe Whitaker would be interested in Whitley because of family, but I don't believe it would be a likely hire.

Politics aside..............

Can someone list the leading canidates in their opinion........

I have heard everyone but Rich Brooks and I look for that application any day.....or at least in the rumor mill.

Burning Questions in my mind:

1. Will they be Colonels or the Red Storm under the new coach?

2. What type of offense will he bring?

3. What type of defense will he bring?

4. Who the heck it is going to be?

5. Will he bring in new coaches?

6. Who the heck are they going to be?

7. Who the heck is it going to be?

8. Will the old coaches stay?

9. Who the heck is it going to be?

10. When are they going to start interviewing?

11. Who the heck is it going to be?

12. When will they announce it?

13. Who the heck is it going to be?

14. When will he get on campus?

15. Who the heck is it going to be?

PAUL RAINS I think!!!

Now that you have said it back it up please. We really don't understand what you mean by that statment.

Explain, you mean you think Tommy Greer will be at Corbin High School?

Mike Whitaker did one of the best things he could have done a t Corbin by telling Tommy Greer to leave and never come back in the middle of a practice.

This is such a joke, Greer was back at Bell in early July and practice hadn't even started. Whitaker never ran Greer off no field, True Redhound you need to get your facts right before posting lies.

Greer is at Bell til his son graduates. Bell program is a much better program than Corbin and this would be a bad move for him.

Tommy Greer is a excellant coach and kids (no matter where he is) love playing for him. I don't see Tommy going to Corbin. He likes it at Bell and Spencer is comfortable there, so why would he change.

I always thought at some point Tommy would get back there, he was a Red Hound and I expected his son to be, but it is just not in the cards.

No need to give him a hard time for doing what he thought was best for his family, although you may not agree with all the moves he has made, it was his choice.
