I think that's like saying leaving a custodian's job at Trump Tower for an executive job at a bank would be a step down just because the janitor's job was working for Trump. A losing program is better than a program that is looking to pay double what Mullen is making right now who has won 5 National Titles, and has had more #1 picks that any team in the country (using the modern draft)? I have to hear the argument for that one. Is Vandy a better job that Texas too?
December 2, 201015 yr Would't a program like Miami want a coach with a few more years of head coaching experience than what Strong has? His resume is a little bare in that area, it seems to me. Davis, Coker and Shannon all were hired with no HC experience.

December 2, 201015 yr I'd rank Miami as a better job then probably 8 or 9 SEC jobs. Let's not get so hung up on the "all mighty" SEC. And surely we've seen enough to know that in MOST cases, the kids the coaches will be leaving, while tough to do, will not keep them at a job.

I understand what you are saying about Mississippi State and the SEC is certainly a better league. But MSU is always fighting to get ahead of Auburn, Alabama, LSU, probably Arkansas, and sometimes Ole Miss just to win the division. Miami should be the top of the line in both their division (outside of Virginia Tech) and the league (Florida State) with the right hire. As long as the money doesn't fall through the floor from Starkville to Coral Gables then Mullen has to take the job.
