December 1, 201015 yr Take it for what its worth, I know we had a bunch of these with Calipari, Donovan, etc..... I have a friend (who happens to be a big Card fan) who works at a pretty famous distillery who just gave 2 pilots a tour today. They stated they just flew their AD and a few select others to Louisville for a dinner meeting with Strong.
December 1, 201015 yr It would be a shame to see Strong leave Louisville this fast, but he would be the man for Miami. There is a lot of talk up in the air about Gruden, Petrino, and many others, but with Strong's background of recruiting in Florida and his coaching ability, he would be huge for the Hurricanes.
December 1, 201015 yr That is the problem with the Louisville job. They can't keep a good coach around long enough to make it an elite program. UL has the facilities, the admin support, fan support, and play in a very winnable conference with BCS ties. I hope Strong will stay. But won't be mad if he leaves, I understand every coach wants that Major job.
December 1, 201015 yr Did some checking and was told this is a false rumor although Miami has put out feelers to gauge Strong's interest...
December 2, 201015 yr Did some checking and was told this is a false rumor although Miami has put out feelers to gauge Strong's interest... Kelly wasn't leaving either!
December 2, 201015 yr Kelly wasn't leaving either! The slime ball used his wife's treatment and recovery from cancer as a cover and blatantly lied to anyone that would listen. You are more than welcome to put me on ignore if you don't like my info...
December 2, 201015 yr I was hoping this would happen a few days ago. Whether or not it's true, I'm glad to see the rumor picking up some steam. Seriously, it makes a lot of sense. I think The U has their sights set elsewhere, but Strong would be an excellent choice IMO.
December 2, 201015 yr Would't a program like Miami want a coach with a few more years of head coaching experience than what Strong has? His resume is a little bare in that area, it seems to me.
December 2, 201015 yr I was getting ready to state that this was most likely false. Miami met with Jon Gruden around 3 today, which wouldn't leave much time for a meeting with Strong at any time. Gruden's not coming from the reports, which is perfectly fine by me if GT's info is correct. Call me crazy but I would prefer Mullen and Diaz over Gruden anyway. Gruden has the better resume, but there would always be the knowledge in the back of Miami fans minds that he would leave for the NFL. Mullen could be there for a while.
December 2, 201015 yr Would't a program like Miami want a coach with a few more years of head coaching experience than what Strong has? His resume is a little bare in that area, it seems to me. In most cases yes, but I think Strong's personality and his recruiting ability make up for that. And really anyone can see that he has done an amazing job at U of L this season IMO.
December 2, 201015 yr Mississippi State is a better job, Miami would be a step down ACC/SEC. And if he took it what about the kids at MSU?
