Coaches looking?

Featured Replies

Is there some type of etiquette in the coaching profession re: the pursuing of coaching jobs? I would think that there are some rules that govern this situation.

Yeah character and professionalism!

guess miller at fairdale is looking

I thought Paul Rains retired last year from a great job at LCA. Why the interest in the Bourbon County job?

Not retired- fired

Last thing Bourbon needs is a new Coach. Coach Poynter is getting things in order. Takes more than 2 seasons to rebuild.

Not retired- fired

I never heard that. How can you win a state championship and get fired. That sounds like firing a coach who one more game in two years than the school won in the past 7 years. I thought the HL article said he resigned.

He was let go for off the field reasons.

If Rains approached Bourbon Co about someone else's job that was not open, then he should be ashamed. I don't care how many games that you have won. I agree with Knute. That is low...snake in the grass describes it well.

If indeed Raines did meet with the super that is pretty low by him and the Bourbon County faithful. IMO Bourbon County is about a shady place as their is.

Maybe Coach Rains is using Bourbon County as leverage for the Madison Southern job. It would be Bourbon County's luck, that they fire a great coach and get left at the alter.

Not retired- fired

This is not true...

Not sure about Bourbon but maybe just maybe Rains met with a super from another district besides Bourbon, rumors can destroy a program. Poynter is making things happen in Bourbon and I would see no reason for them letting him go. Now if rains is talking to the Bourbon County super then maybe Poynter should question the time and efforts he is putting in for those people if this is the case. I just think that maybe this could all be wrong and could lead to some problems if everyone does not have their facts straight.

Knute is right. If they give you a chance to resign before they fire you. It is not retired it's fired. It was off field reasons.

Correct. But, lets keep in mind, even in this day in time when everyone seems to think the worst, that Raines was let go for off the field reasons, but they were reasons that 99% of the teaching/coaching population would not get fired for. Maybe a slap on the hand, but not fired.
