Carson Palmer

Featured Replies

I think on the last play of the game Palmer thought it was 3rd down and threw the ball away just shows he is not that smart.

Totally agree he thought they got the first on the completion before spike. You could see it by the look on his face. But we've seen that look a lot this year.

On fourth down, we had three receivers to the left, and they had max coverage,” Palmer said. “Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Cedric, but I couldn’t get the ball to him because of their pressure.”

What he didn't see, was two recievers open in the endzone in front of him. I'm glad you posted this as this statement is a perfect point to Carson Palmer the quarterback. God help us all if the guy ever checks out of a play into one that has a chance. In his mind, "it's the play that was called, the defense is stacked against it. It's our last chance to win the game. What the heck, I'll just run the play. Well now I think I will throw it into the stands". That last play was an absolute joke. I am sort of glad he knew it was 4th down though. Well not really. Knowing it was 4th down and chucking it in the stands is unacceptable too.

No matter how you feel it was absurd to think he didn't know what down it was like some on here speculated.

I agree. I said as soon as it was surfaced, that I really hoped that wasn't the case.

Palmer just signed and extension with the Bengals for 5 more years average of 10 mil a year....

Come on man those guys were not open, did you not watch the play. Yes those guys looked wide open, because as soon as the ball left Palmers hand they broke off their guys to go try to tackly Pearman or whatever his name is. So of coarse after the play is over, it looks like those guys are wide open because their guys left them to come up on the throw. I don't know if you get the chance to DVR games like me, to go back and look at stuff. However you would see that especially Reggie Kell was covered, and his guy left him to make the tackle. It was a very poor passing combination because it did allow one guy to cover two guys basically. I admit Palmer has to make a better throw than what he did, the runningback might not have got in the end zone, because that guy had came off Kelly to try to make the tackle, however Palmer does have to at least give him a chance to make a play on it. The whole thing about guys being wide open though just is not true, that runningback was the most open guy and he still might not have got in if Palmer made a good throw.

I really don't get why they didn't split Simpson out by himself, and just let him try to make a play.

Cincinnati's Carson Palmer tied a career high with 20 interceptions and fell from elite status.

15. Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals

Analysis: Palmer threw five pick-sixes this season, but some of them can be attributed to poor route running by his receivers. He passed for nearly 4,000 yards this season, and he looked good without Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens in Week 16. But those 20 interceptions and the 4-12 finish for the Bengals drag him down.

Chance of being elite: 75 percent

We have no way of knowing this, nor does Clayton.

Wrong we do. TJ in an interview a month or so ago said Chad freelances on routes. Lapham today on 1530 with Mo Egger said there were at least a few times this year Chad ran the wrong route because he thought the corner knew the play.

So, Chad has been doing this for years and it just now results in those pick 6's this season?

Again, we do not know if those pick 6's were on plays that the wr ran the wrong route.

Palmer has had INT issues before this year. I'm not a big believer that he won't again. Brees has as many INT's this year than Plamer and nobody's running him out of town. I'd like to see CP have one year without 85 before I completely judge him. I'd say it's 50/50 that Palmer just isn't good. I still think he's above average though.

Yeah, I am not wanting to run him out just yet. It will be interesting to see how he does with a new group of wr's.

If Palmer would have won the Superbowl last year no one would be running him out of town either.

I cannot believe he(Clayton) thinks that Romo is an Elite qb!!!

Thats fine, explain the two picks from last Sunday. Here's my view. Bad throws into coverage. Shipley was surrounded by Ravens. The departure of the two best recievers will not take care of Palmers issues. Only he can do that. If he doesn't get it fixed, the Bengals are in a world of hurt for a long time.
