October 27, 201015 yr I knew someone would resort to the numbers angle. It doesn't fly with me because the point being made is simple. We can't smear an entire religion for the actions (regardless of how severe or ghastly) of a few. Yet we see it all the time with smearing of the entire Muslim faith. It's unacceptable and illogical. And if this indeed was your original opinion, it should have been stated up front rather than to waste the time of everyone (such as myself) who thought you were being serious.

I on the other hand respect the numbers angle. You don't smear an entire religion but we need to acknowledge that a religion has a problem when 40,000 are killed in the name of that religion. However, I lean towards the idea that it is more of a cultural issue than the religious aspect.
October 27, 201015 yr So did anyone watch this? I went to bed watching it. Maddow to me is just difficult to listen to. While Tiller never deserved the fate he received, you often forget how open he was about abortions to the point of throwing it back in the face of the anti-abortion community.

October 27, 201015 yr And if this indeed was your original opinion, it should have been stated up front rather than to waste the time of everyone (such as myself) who thought you were being serious. I would have thought that anyone that read any of Clydes posts in PR would have known what he was getting at.
October 27, 201015 yr Over the last 40 years there have been 2 or 3 abortion doctors killed. While, this was on Fox News the other day, 40,000 plus have been killed by Islamic terrorists. How many in the name of Christianity have hijacked planes vs Islamic terrorists? I see Clyde's effort here, but the numbers just do not match. I do understand that the majority od Muslims would just like to be left alone and live their lives. That may be difficult for them because of the repressive governments they live under. Is the 40,000 figure accurate? How was that number reached? Sorry, but just because someone on Fox News said it doesn't mean I take it at face value.
October 27, 201015 yr So what la-la land are we supposed to live in where we pretend that it's not more likely to be mugged when you walk up on a gang because not all gangs are bad so we shouldn't assume any are? Should I not tell my daughter to be wary of grown men who she doesn't know who want to give her candy because not all grown men who stop and talk to little girls are molestors? IMO, many try to swing the pendulum too far in the other direction when it comes to this stuff. The brush shouldn't paint everyone guilty, but it doesn't paint everyone innocent either.
October 27, 201015 yr I would have thought that anyone that read any of Clydes posts in PR would have known what he was getting at. Which is what I originally thought until he kept going and going. In retrospect, I can now see what he was trying to do, but still finding it hard to understand the method since I am not a student; nor is he my teacher.

Clyde's posting style in P&R is to try and back posters into a corner where they have no alternative but to look hypocritical.
October 27, 201015 yr Clyde's posting style in P&R is to try and back posters into a corner where they have no alternative but to look hypocritical. Actually, I find it to be to present an extreme to make people work their way to the logical.

Nothing wrong with wanting to be sure. The murders committed by Islamic terrorists in the attacks in Bali, Israel, Cheneya, the killings at the Munich Olympics, and the US, just to mention a few, add up to thousands. So I would find the 40,000 plausible. ,

October 27, 201015 yr Actually, I find it to be to present an extreme to make people work their way to the logical. Funny, you refused to answer my questions in a thread a couple weeks back for "using an extreme example".... And, no he definitely tries to make posters out to look like hypocrits.

October 27, 201015 yr Which is what you did when you asked that question. That's my point. You'll respond if Clyde or someone that has the same beliefs as you pose those types of questions, but refuse to answer when it's someone that doesn't share your beliefs.
