Guys, come on, Raceland beating OPEN? Really? I mean, seriously, OPEN has shut out, T, X, Male, and Highlands. I'm sorry to burst your bubble here, but no way Raceland scores on OPEN's D...now their O leaves a lot to be desired, but we all have heard, "Defense wins championships."

 

I did hear that in protest to Highlands being given their win/tie back against OPEN in 2004, OPEN will be refusing to play in this year's playoffs. But that is purely rumor at this point.

One thing to consider guys...from the films I have seen on OPEN, they completely dominate the time of possession. Raceland will have to take advantage of every possession they get...if they get the ball at all. OPEN has lost the toss in every game this year but, for whatever reason, the opposing team says they want to kick instead of deferring their option to the second half. If Raceland can avoid that mistake I believe they have a chance.

Valid point. I can live with that, so long as you are rooting for the Rams anyway.

 

I also heard that OPEN has had quite a few transfers from West Virginia, and Raceland does not have a history of much success versus teams like that.

You may be right, it can get tough playing the NEKY/WVA All stars. No, let me rephrase that, it can get tough playing the Huntington,WVA (with a few NEKY support players) all stars. :sssh::sssh:

Ram, is WVA the only out of state players that OPEN has or have they expanded? Reason being if they are 6A playing up they are a much bigger school and may have drawn players from Ohio as well.

I do believe defense wins championships. But I remember when Randy Moss and company played for Marshall. Marshall seemed to always give up lots of points and they won Bowl games and a National championship. They won games 54-50 and high scores like that. So it can be done!!! Raceland does have a very good offense!

I have to revert to the T, X, Highlands argument. If those teams cannot score on Open, Raceland cannot score on Open. They have a very good offense but give me a break. The best the Rams can hope for is a tie. Does Open play overtime in all of these games that end in a tie? I heard they are not in very good shape and they were passing gas, I mean gasping for air, by the end of the game.

I want to make sure that everyone knows that those making these outlandish predictions are not OPEN fans, they are only fans that have been labeled OPEN fans because they seem to post in all the OPEN threads.

Well, it has happened again, our stadium has been spray painted with stuff. All of the stuff was spray painted in Clear Paint, which we all know is OPEN's team color. Clear spray paint everywhere. Really bad sportsmanship by the OPEN players.
