November 3, 201015 yr Are these just scrimmages or actual games this weekend? Has a schedule been posted of all the teams and times? Any information about the teams? I guess that depends on the coach. Some coaches treat them as a scrimmage and play everybody and work through things with their offense and defense. Some coaches treat it as a game and win at all costs. My school has played in this ever since the first one a few years ago. Our coaches treat it as a scrimmage.
November 4, 201015 yr Can someone tell me if there are any games being played this weekend by middle school teams and where those games are being played. If there are tournaments, can someone provide the brackets/game schedules. I know that Highlands Middle School is having an 8th grade boys and girls tournament next week with some pretty good teams entered on the boys side. Holmes should be the favorite in the tournament with Highlands, St. Joe's Cold Spring and St. Therese being tough outs. A potential second round game would pit the Highlands team against St. Therese which should be a real battle. If you are looking for something to do next week come on out and support the HMS 8th grade trip to Washington D.C.

The 8th grade team should be pretty decent if my memory serves me correctly. A then Johnson School 5th grade team had to go to overtime to defeat them in the semifinals of the Dayton League a few years back.

November 5, 201015 yr No 7th grade team...............................2 7th graders are playing 8th grade basketball, one of which had been in the same class as the 8th graders until this year. The 8th grade team is very talented and deep. Can go about 8 or 9 deep. Many of the 8th graders are also playing freshman ball this year.

November 5, 201015 yr Schedule attached for this weekend's games. Perhaps you can post some of the results of these games as they progress over the weekend. Interested to hear what teams looked good and what ones did not.
November 7, 201015 yr Walton-Verona went 6-0 at Lloyd this weekend. It's early and all 3 teams looked rusty and a little sloppy. But, overall it was a good chance for them to get out and to play some competition. 6th grade played: Tichenor and Gray 7th grade played: Tichenor and Ockerman 8th grade played: Tichenor and Summit View I'm glad the season is getting started. Walton-Verona's season starts Monday night against Summit View.

Find it interesting that neither Highlands or Holmes are playing. I believe the last time the Birds played in this was 2006 and it was the 7th grade group the year Pat Towles was there. I think it normally crosses with the Highlands tourney until this year.
