I heard earlier tonight that the Baby Birds are traveling to Boyle this Thurs to play. This is very good news!!!

What time will this game be played?

Yeah, I hated to hear it. As I have always said you get better by playing better teams. I wonder if one or the other canceled the game or if it was a mutual decision because of the redistricting for 2011?

Here's a question: why would teams like Dixie, Boone County and Beechwood choose to play Highlands if they are not in HHS' district? What do these teams get out of playing HHS on a consistent basis when it's very, very likely they will lose the game? I don't see any evidence that Boone County or Dixie have benefitted from playing Highlands with respect to doing well in the playoffs. And I doubt that BW's playoff success has been due to playing HHS.

 

Frankly, I'm surprised that any NKY teams not in HHS' district agree to play Highlands in football right now. If Highlands is able to maintain the level of success it has experienced over the past few years (2007 onwards), I'd have to believe HHS will have all sorts of issues filling out its schedule in the upcoming years.

 

People who've been clamoring for HHS to play more Ohio/Cincy teams may soon get their wish.

Wouldn't surprise me. From what I've heard, these two have tried to work something out the past few years but a certain team simply couldn't agree on the arrangements.

 

Wouldn't that mean the other team wouldn't agree on arrangements from the one that would't agree on their arrangements?

Other thread says 6:30 PM. Google maps says 124 miles and 2 hrs. 17 min. from Ft. Thomas to Danville. Hope it will be a good game.

 

On the varsity level, this should be a good rivalry to renew.

I could be totally wrong (have been before), but I think this conversation started when Boyle invited HHS to their Bowl Game for next season. The Birds weren't interested in that kind of 2 year arrangement (2 appearances in a Bowl somewhere else) but were interested in a "Home and Home" contract. Conversations took off from there I think. :thumb:

I hope not as well but I suspect the JC/Boyle game is off for now.

As of now, I don't think that the Johnson Central - Boyle County game will be renewed. Just pursuing other options.

I don't know jbwill2. In my opinion I always saw Highlands as the"measuring stick" that would indicate if Dixie was really getting any better (defensively, offensively, able to hang for 3-4 quarters, possibly be in position to win, etc.). And of course it ends in loses for Dixie, but that's the case for all the NKY schools when they play HHS. I also understand that Highlands doesn't benefit from playing Dixie after this year or really any NKY non-district foe. I just like watching good football and if Dixie players could take something positive away from the loss, all the better. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved for DHHS to knock off the Bluebirds and there's always hoping. But there is also reality.
