I think this game comes down to % of possessions turned into points (and whether those points are 3 or 7).

 

From what I've read, LC has quick strike capability which is great and leads to lots of possessions. It can also lead to lots of playing time for LC's defense and an inability to control the clock when ahead.

 

HHS has a reasonable balance between run and pass, but not much of a short passing, ball control option. This gives HHS some options to limit the # of possessions for LC's offense and keep the HHS defense (other than those that go 2 ways) rested.

 

Assuming some ball control by HHS, figure on each team having maybe 8-12 possessions. Every time you put it in the endzone, the pressure goes to the other side to do the same. FGs are a push to slightly negative. Every punt and turnover is a missed opportunity and they become even more important in these games than a defensive struggle where a fumble recovery can be negated by a 3 & out which follows. Field position & special teams may spell the difference as well.

I've seen Guidugli catch many a ball against a 150lb defensive back this season. Most of those DBs ended up flat on their tails after fllying 8-10 yards through the air when Guidugli hit them. He looks to punish defenders after the catch. So, Revere may stick with him but he better be ready to take a hit after the catch! Hope LC has a good training staff.

Highlands ran the ball all over Cov Cath whose defense is definatly better. I think we will manage to run down the middle of the 160 pound LB's of lex cath, and if you think you can cover guidugli you may need 3 people and a step ladder...

5'8" 150 vs 6'2" 213...Doesn't sound like a good matchup for him. :eek:

 

 

Guidugli is a great high school receiver, but I don't believe he is 6'2 nor 213; it doesn't really matter though, he gets the job done.

If Revere is the kid who made the INT at the end of the CCH game and covered Bovard, he is really good-very fast and wonderful technique-not your average high school corner.

 

I don't believe he would be matched up with Guidugli though; they would have to make a special adjustment if they put a CB on a TE; then a S, LB, or extra CB would have to cover Highlands's WRs.

 

Getting back to Revere, he is good enough that he could beat the the Rec. to the ball, much like he did last week; so I would respect his abilities.

Of course I will be there Birdie. I might have to make my way over toward you tomorrow if the temperature doesnt rise any!!! Get some hot chocolate or something!
