Dear KHSAA,

 

Because of travel concerns (Highlands in our class), we respectfully submit that we be placed in Class 5A (no Highlands) and not in Class 4A (with Highlands).

 

As you can plainly see (Highlands 19 state titles), the travel costs and concerns (Highlands in Class 4A) makes it logical (no Highlands in Class 5A) for our alignment to be changed.

 

Anything you can do (Please, please, Please, please, Please, please, Please, please, Please, please) would be greatly appreciated.

Bell County all ways has trouble filling their schedule. And I know what you are going to say why don't they play Highlands. I would love to see these 2 teams play myself.

So Boyle County should definitely ask the KHSAA to move East Carter and McCreary Central to 4A

JC says the KHSAA miscounted and that they should be in 5A and they support that with the fact that the KHSAA should count students in their alternative program which would move them from 4A. I assume they stand behind that unless they find out Highlands has an alternative program as well.

Bell Co.'s option #1 would be fair to Bell Co. and Corbin, not sure how the teams in district 5 and the other teams in district 4 would feel about it.

I'm torn about the idea of Russell petitioning to move back to 3A due to geographical concerns. I like the idea of Russell having a rivalry with Prestonsburg, facing tough regional competition like LCA and Danville, and having only 3 district opponents so they can beef up the rest of their schedule with local rivals and better teams. That's much more exciting than what their previous district had to offer. These types of games are fun to watch and set the bar higher for the program. However, it is a long drive to these places so I can see the point of petitioning to be moved.
