Track the Reds (NLDS Game 2 Edition)

Featured Replies

No, but he was yapping about it today--how the Reds are bogus or frauds or whatever--and we go out yet again and do nothing to prove otherwise.

You should have heard him about 2 months ago ripping the entire state of Ohio (Ohio State, Cavs, Browns, Indians, Bengals, Reds and Bearcats). And here are the Reds, just adding more fuel to the fire.

The Reds have nearly no post season experience on that roster. While I don't think I'd classify what happened as playing scared??? I'd simply say that this team lacked focus. Focus in the field, on the mound, at the plate. All signatures of a young team. However, even though they appear destined to end their season early, they very well may win Sunday, and when 2011 rolls around, they won't be staring at their first rodeo in the post season.

I disagree. Young teams don't have problem focusing in big games. They thrive on big games because they think they are great. They lose focus in boring parts of the season.

But being young, they also can lose that confident swagger when things don't go their way and they don't have the experience to draw on to overcome it.

You are missing my point. I agree with you. But since he couldn't get them before they scored, it beat into the Reds' young players confidence that the seasoned stars were making the misplays.

Offensively, I don't remember them putting any challenge up from that point on.

I don't think anybody on their team was playing 'scared' like you're saying.

Rolen sure wasn't scared when he booted a ball and neither was BP. Bruce lost his ball, its not like he let it drop in front him when he should have dove.

The reason they didn't put up much of a challenge after that is because they were facing 2 of the hottest pitchers in the league, with an offense that hasn't done much for a while now.

I think the Phillies play like a team that's been here before & the Reds are playing like one that hasn't.

Quote of the day.

Been terrible calls all postseason long. Don't see it changing anytime soon.

Agreed, which is partly why baseball has lost so much ground to the NFL & NBA.

Really, so being nervous wouldn't play into wondering making the towels maybe a bigger problem than they might have been?

What do you chalk all the mistakes and lack of hitting once it began up to if it is not nervousness?

No having troulbe picking up the ball had nothing to do with being nervous. The lack of hitting I chalk uip to a good job by the Phillies bullpen. Utley never should have been on base, and then he should have been out at 2nd. Phillips dropping the relay throw I credit to him trying to watch the runners and make a quick throw to home.

You're wrong.

And for the record, Carson Palmer sucks.

You should have heard him about 2 months ago ripping the entire state of Ohio (Ohio State, Cavs, Browns, Indians, Bengals, Reds and Bearcats). And here are the Reds, just adding more fuel to the fire.

Well, that explains a lot, because I caught the middle of his rant today. He said something to the effect of, "The entire state of Ohio hates me." He didn't really explain why. I deduced it was about the Reds & Cavs, but hard to believe he's coming down on Ohio State.

I'm scared GT might spill some milk. I'm scared HT might cry. I'm scared that my wife might yell at me like she did the TV. But to say that these Reds, whom I've watched virtually every inning this season played scared is silly, IMO. Good night all. Braves still suck.

Scared was the look on Utley's face when he realized how close he was to looking like the elephant man after that pitch.

On an unrelated note, TBS (family guy) has the most annoying commercials ever.
