October 9, 201016 yr Yes. Maybe it's semantics, but I wouldn't classify that as scared, green maybe. But not scared. I would see green and scared as the same thing.
October 9, 201016 yr Yes. Maybe it's semantics, but I wouldn't classify that as scared, green maybe. But not scared. Perhaps semantics, but I link "green" and "scared."
October 9, 201016 yr They played scared the rest of the night. I totally disagree. So, you think Rolen's error was because he was scared? Or that Bruce lost one in the lights/hankies because he was scared? Ok
October 9, 201016 yr Arroyo gave up the single for the two runs didn't he? I meant that he wasn't able to overcome the blunders of Rolen and Phillips. Arroyo got 5 outs that inning. He did all he could do.
October 9, 201016 yr It seemed the Reds got confidence when one of their leaders, Phillips, hit the home run and then the played like it as another, Arroyo, dominated. But when the two leaders, Rolen and Phillips, committed the error and Arroyo couldn't get them out of trouble, all their confidence was gone and they played scared from that point on. I thought it all went down hill when Cabrera went down. I just think he is the guy who gives this team confidence and the added experience that it needs in clutch situations.
October 9, 201016 yr I totally disagree. So, you think Rolen's error was because he was scared? Or that Bruce lost one in the lights/hankies because he was scared? Ok Watch the previous inning and Bruce had trouble with one he caught then. And yes, I think they lost their confidence after the errors and never regained it.
October 9, 201016 yr Another blown call in the Giants game. By the same umpire that blew the call last night at 2nd. If they're not going to use instant replay at least use the best umpires, and don't use a freaking rotation. Been terrible calls all postseason long. Don't see it changing anytime soon.
October 9, 201016 yr Author Watch the previous inning and Bruce had trouble with one he caught then. And yes, I think they lost their confidence after the errors and never regained it. That's because he was having trouble picking up the ball. It had nothing to do with being green or scared.
October 9, 201016 yr Arroyo got 5 outs that inning. He did all he could do. You are missing my point. I agree with you. But since he couldn't get them before they scored, it beat into the Reds' young players confidence that the seasoned stars were making the misplays. Offensively, I don't remember them putting any challenge up from that point on.
October 9, 201016 yr I totally disagree. So, you think Rolen's error was because he was scared? Or that Bruce lost one in the lights/hankies because he was scared? Ok I think the Phillies play like a team that's been here before & the Reds are playing like one that hasn't.
October 9, 201016 yr Rhodes and Chapman's HBP had notihng to do with being green or scared. :thumb: That's if you consider Chapman's a HBP.
October 9, 201016 yr The Reds have nearly no post season experience on that roster. While I don't think I'd classify what happened as playing scared??? I'd simply say that this team lacked focus. Focus in the field, on the mound, at the plate. All signatures of a young team. However, even though they appear destined to end their season early, they very well may win Sunday, and when 2011 rolls around, they won't be staring at their first rodeo in the post season.
October 9, 201016 yr I thought it all went down hill when Cabrera went down. I just think he is the guy who gives this team confidence and the added experience that it needs in clutch situations. Good call. Cabrera provides some veteran leadership, for sure.
October 9, 201016 yr That's because he was having trouble picking up the ball. It had nothing to do with being green or scared. Really, so being nervous wouldn't play into wondering making the towels maybe a bigger problem than they might have been? What do you chalk all the mistakes and lack of hitting once it began up to if it is not nervousness?
