Upper Bracket:

Conner v Newport

^^^(Winner plays Lloyd in second round, loser plays Whitman)

Campbell Co v Grant Co

Boone Co v Fern Creek

Lower Bracket:

Ryle v Brossart

Holmes v Spencer Co

Lafayette v Cooper

St. Michael v Newport Catholic

Thoughts?

Looking at the brackets again, with this being a week away, there are some very intriguing second round match ups that could occur:

Campbell Co v Boone Co (Re-Match)

Holmes v Ryle (Ryle better than expected, Holmes first true test in nky)

Just a reminder that nkysports.com will be bringing you live coverage of the semi's and finals of this tournament.

Looks like a good tourny. Get to see how Canada does basketball. Does anyone know what Lloyd has looked like so far? Also, where from Ohio is St. Michael? from

Lloyd is 6-2 but haven't really played anyone to date.

I believe St. Michael is up in the Sharonville area, maybe?

According to the Enquirer Whitman-Hanson is from Massachusetts and St. Michael Academy from near Toronto, Canada. Here is the pairing and the bracket.

Couldn't find much on the Whitman Hanson team but it looks like they are 2-0 to start the season and were 19-3 last season. I couldn't find how many players returned from last year's team. St. Michael's College School stands as Ontario's only independent Catholic school for young men. St. Michael's prepares young men for success at the post-secondary level and to be leaders in their community. St. Michael's College School is a day school with approximately 1100 students from Grade 7 to Grade 12.

I predict Holmes and Boone Co to meet in the finals and the Rebels to come out with the Championship.

Ryle, assuming they beat Brossart, would be an extremely tough game for Holmes in the second round.

There really isn't an easy game for anyone in this tournament.

I may be way off base, but Holmes should not overlook Spencer Co. on Monday.

I hope if these teams have learned anything, it's that none of them can overlook any team, they have to come out with the same intensity every game, you never know who is going to show up on any given game and many of these games have been closer than each of the teams would have liked. Look forward to a great week of basketball.

I think you may be right, as well.

Like I said in a previous post. There isn't an easy game for anyone in this tournament. All games should be very competitive.

Holmes may not overlook the Bears, but I believe most posters are thinking it will be a Ryle-Holmes matchup for sure.

I'd be lying if I said you weren't right.

Should be a great day of games. I'll be heading up to Lloyd around 3:30 when I get off work.

With those two in this tournament together, they could potentially play 5 times this year.

Twice during the regular season for district seeding.

Once in this tournament.

Once in the district tournament.

Once in the Region Championship. (If both make it there)

When was the last time two teams played 5 times in one year? I can't even remember the last time two teams played 4 times in one year?

I don't know about 5 times.

But St. Patrick and Bracken County played 6 times in the 2008-09 season.

I'm hearing the Canadian team can not make it now. Schedule is being changed. Not sure who NCC's new opponent will be.

I heard the same thing. I was told the head coach suffered a heart attack on Christmas day. If that is the case; prayers go out to him, his family and the players.
