I know it's over two months away but I just received an email from Coach Key with the brackets and list of teams in it. Here is how the brackets are set up:

Looks like a very competitive tourney. A Boone/Conner semi is what I'll be hoping for.

Why does Whitman (whoever they are) automatically go into the loser's bracket? Doesn't seem quite right.

With those two in this tournament together, they could potentially play 5 times this year.

How about Ryle v Brossart in the first round? Very interesting match up considering the tough, hard nosed defense that both teams play.

Holmes and CCH played 4 times in 2006/2007. Regular season seed game, LexCath tourney, district championship, region championship.

It actually used to happen quite a bit through the 80's. Teams would sometimes play five times in year. I think NewCath and Highlands played one another seven times in 87.

 

In the 90's, I know Boone played Lloyd four times in 96. And, in 94 and 95 it seemed like CovCath and Holy Cross played every other week.

The Whitman team is coming from the BC (British Columbia), yes north of the border. They can only be here for 3 days so they get the bye.

This is a great tourney if you haven't been before! It's a great weekend of basketball, Coach Key has done a great job of making this tournament a success. 2 years ago the opening round Holmes vs. Senaca was one of the best high school games I've seen, packed house and a ton of talent on the floor.
