Conner #1 in 9th Region Coaches and Enquirer Poll.

Featured Replies

The boys from Hebron have had the bullseye placed upon them right out of the chute. They were voted number one in both polls. Their opener against Dixe should be a great matchup to get the season started. They return lots of Sr. leadership and experience to the lineup.

Here's the two polls (one for all of NKY - one for just the 9th region):

Looks like the coaches are expecting a competitive season. First place votes for five of the ten squads.

Interesting that Ryle picked up a first place vote, but was number 7 overall.

I never put much stock in coaches polls.

With that said it's obvious many coaches doubt CCH's guard play.

Should be a dandy :thumb:

Conner, Boone and Ryle all with 1st place votes. Should be quite a district.

Conner has done well in the underdog role, it will be interesting to see how they do when expectations are high.

Why would Conner schedule games on Saturday afternoon after playing a district rival (Boone Co.) on a Friday night? They get Beechwood and Highlands after both Boone games. Seems like odd scheduling to me.

I spoke with Ryan Ernst Friday at the Dixie game and he said while this year's 9th region will be very competitive, don't expect any of these teams to "wow" you like some of the recent teams over the past few years.

There was only one team that "wowed" me over the past few years.

^^^My point is, the 9th might be competitive amongst eachother this year but on a statewide level it is no where what it's been over the past few years.

Agreed. It took almost 30 years for the 9th Region to win their second state championship. It might just take another 30 years or some transfer help before they win another. That Bulldog team was special.

Indeed.

I think this year, any of those top 5 teams could win the region and nobody in nky would be surprised. A lot of mediocrity this year and parity in the 9th.

What does NC return to go along side Geisler?

What does NC return to go along side Geisler?

Hightchew, Morse, and Doyle will be relied on this year to step up and help the big guy out.

I'd expect to see Hightchew handle the pg duties.
