Holmes 55 Franklin County 9

So much for Franklin Co being "an offensive juggernaut' and routing Holmes.

Holmes may not be playing the toughest schedule, but they're absolutely destroying their district opponents.

Next week's game against Dixie is sure to be a good one.

Anyone have any stats for tonight?

So much for Franklin Co being "an offensive juggernaut' and routing Holmes.

That was exactly what I thought when I saw the score.

This score leads me to believe that Holmes is a legit contender in 4A.

I know you can't compare scores, but:

Holmes 55 Franklin Co 9

Boyle Co 51 Franklin Co 20

Its time for someone to eat crow. Holmes looked very sharp tonight. Franklin County didn't know what hit them in the first 5 minutes of the game. Next weeks game against Dixie could be a good one! GO dawgs!!!

Paging Rasputin.... should be good post game comments.

From nky.com:

Holmes 14 34 7 0-- 55

Franklin Co. 0 0 7 2-- 9

H–Jensen 3 run (Gullett kick)

H–Simpson 7 run (Gullett kick)

H–Peterson 23 pass from Jensen (Gullett kick)

H–Clemons 7 run (Gullett kick)

H–Knox 51 fumble return (Gullett kick)

H–Costen 34 pass from Jensen (kick failed)

H–Jensen 36 run (Gullett kick)

H–Gipson 2 pass from Jensen (Gullett kick)

F–Anderson 77 run (Durham kick)

F–team safety

Records: H 6-0 F 3-3

They should enjoy it this year. If Highlands gets realigned to 4A, it will be a nightmare for Holmes.

This score leads me to believe that Holmes is a legit contender in 4A.

I would not use these two score as a comparison because Franklin County played without 3 of its best players. Timmons is their offensive star and is one of the best Sophomores in the state. Wesley Watkins is their best defensive lineman and is their Left Tackle in the pass heavy offense; he is the team's senior leader. Chris Roberts, a very talented freshman running back, was also out tonight due to injury so for you to compare these scores as a determinant of Holmes being able to compete with the top dogs in 4A is a misconception. The Flyers will get the 2 seed in the district especially if these kids get back to being healthy.

Say what you want no way those kids close the gap by 55 points the starters were pulled when it was 55 to 0 with ten minutes left in the third. Also if you was a the game you seen one of the best players in the state in the sophmore class for Holmes #11 Desean Peterson a BCS recruit!

Re-read the post by sportanalyst. That's not what he said.

Do not think anyone thinks that the kids missing for FC would have been good enough for the win at this point, but you never know, players out are hard to fill those voids, especially at running back with an already battered unit. Tough game to watch for a Flyer fan do not think any of our boys showed up, add that to the fact Holmes is pretty good............ Holmes will do fine but they will not beat the likes of Boyle in 4a.

Nice job by Holmes, Franklin had a nice crowd, but was taken out of the game very early, one of the better crowds i have seen in a while for Holmes for an away game, that far from Covington, sets up an interesting battle against Dixe next Friday.

Missed players or not, Holmes likely would've beat FC pretty bad. Their offense is simply that good and their defense is extremely tough.

As far as Holmes not being able to beat Boyle, I guess we'll find out if both teams are fortunate enough to advance to that point.

Like I said, Franklin County can not compete with Holmes.
