I'll second that...

I have only seen one QB run people over like Jared used to and that is Pike.

That why I think he'll play a position other than QB in college. Running over people is not something QBs should be in the habit of doing, especially those playing with very large DEs (those in college) chasing them down.

As for the thread, I agree that we should let young Mr. Towles play his game and after his HS days are over we can compare him to other HHS QBs. For now, let's enjoy his excellent play and leadership skills.

Your trying to tell me Jared could throw a ball 60+ yards while rolling out to the right and throw across his body? WRONG! I have although saw Towles in the Withrow game throw one about 65 yards as time expired in the 1st half. And to say Jared never ran cause he always found an open receiver is ludicrous.

Yes he did. 1998 Campbell County thrashing he rolled to his own sideline between the 35 and 40 hand hit a man in stride on the opposite six. I watched it live and on film at least 50 times.

Jared wasn't fast but extremely quick. I believe he led the region during basketball in steals his senior year. That right there tells you the athletic ability of someone his size. I think Patrick is a very good high school qb, but has a way to go to be on Jared's level. IMO Jared is the best qb I have ever seen play in NKY..Hands down!!

AGREED!

Pike has absolutely no reason to be in this thread. Pike doesnt compare to Towles and definitely doesnt compare to Lorenzen. Geez people!

Great post! Unless you saw it in person there is no comparison. Can you believe that its already been 11 years since those days?

Don't overreact.

I always felt bad for Lorenzen's receivers. Stegman told me about how the first week of throwing together during the summer was awful due to the abuse his hands took. He threw a bubble screen past my head and it looked like one of Eric Glazer's fastballs. It was on and past me before I knew it. His arm strength is stuff of legends.

Now this sounds like the guy I watched on TV....

Towles doesnt want to weigh 240. Why would he? That makes no sense what so ever. Talk about avoiding pressure? Towles will have more rushing yards and rushing touchdowns this year then Lorenzen had. And I also think Jared was blessed with some unbelievable receivers. If you gave Towles Derek Smith to throw to it wouldnt even be fair.

(Although I am no where saying his receivers this year are not doing a wonderful job which they are.)

I think its unfair to compare stats with these two players. True Towles doesnt have the weapons to throw to and perhaps that is why he runs more, thus more rushing yards and touchdowns, but if Lorenzen didn't have Smith, who know how many rushing yards and touchdowns he would of had. It just depends on the type of team you have. Both are great athletes and Towles is very lucky to have Lorenzen at his side helping him and praising his abilities.
