Lorenzen and Towles: Similarities

Featured Replies

Towles doesnt want to weigh 240. Why would he? That makes no sense what so ever. Talk about avoiding pressure? Towles will have more rushing yards and rushing touchdowns this year then Lorenzen had. And I also think Jared was blessed with some unbelievable receivers. If you gave Towles Derek Smith to throw to it wouldnt even be fair.

Can he roll out to the sideline on his own 35, throw across his body, and hit a reciever on the opposite side of the field on the six yard line in stride? No. Also, the rushing yards didn't happen for Jared. He swatted rushers down with his right hand, or avoided them with his feet, and threw touchdowns with his left hand.

I think Towles compares more favorably to Guidugli. They have a similar build, are right handed, and throw a nice deep ball. Lorenzon was his own animal. He had the strongest arm at the NFL combine in 2003. He was about as rare as it gets. It's tough to compare Towles to Guigugli or Lorenzon though, b/c their offenses are completely different. Highlands this year seems to be like the old Raiders. Run the ball, run the ball, and then stretch the defense deep.

Your trying to tell me Jared could throw a ball 60+ yards while rolling out to the right and throw across his body? WRONG! I have although saw Towles in the Withrow game throw one about 65 yards as time expired in the 1st half. And to say Jared never ran cause he always found an open receiver is ludicrous.

I totally agree. Comparing Towles to Gino is a much better comparison then to Jared.

I recall a run against CovCath(I think) where Jared lowered his shoulder and absolutely obliterated a DB. I don't think we'll see that out of Pat anytime soon. Doesn't mean he couldn't. Jared took some hits that would have injured other QB's.

If I'm not mistaken I saw him throw one about 60 yards one Saturday in Park Hills with two Cov Cath players hanging on him.

Whoh, whoh, whoh...All i hear is how great the WR's are week in week out. Sure, none of them are as good as Smith or others who played during that time, nor does that stop Bluebird fans from comparing someone who is good to some of their former greats. Towles doesn't want to weigh 240, then why does everyone always brag about him weighing 230? You have to remember, when Lorenzen was getting it done, there was more parity in the district. Lorenzen was great because of what he was able to do against all competition and his display of skills. You may want to compare him to the third best Bluebird signal caller because he does not touch the top two :thumb:

We'll agree to disagree.

For one thing, I think the last time Lorenzen weighed 240 was in his freshman (high school) year. He probably weighed 260 to 270 his junior and senior years. I have no facts to back this up, just observation. Towles and Lorenzen are totally different physically.

There are several different avenues to becoming a great quarterback. Towles is a young 16 year-old kid with a ton left in the tank. He will get faster, bigger and stronger and probably even a little taller. There are some similarities between he and his coach and there also differences. I will say if he improves as much next year as he did this year it will be fun to watch.

Great post!

I have seen Patrick to the exact same thing....but from the 55 yard line. They did it in practice.

Yeah, well I saw PJ Sauer throw if from the 56 yd line thru the goal post. Anyone else. Go Birds 20n10

Read my next post. We moved on from this.

How about we let the kid just be himself and not try to live upto a legend?

This would make a wonderful Mc Donald's commercial that would rival the likes of Bird and Jordan....:D
