1A #5 Frankfort travels to Bracken County for a District 4 matchup against the Polar Bears.

 

Frankfort just waxed Middlesboro last week and Bracken County is looking for their first win against Kentucky competition.

 

Can the Polar Bears upset the Panthers?

It's never been great, but I think teams like Eminence, Trimble County, and Gallatin County are all down a bit. They've never been on Frankfort's level, but at least they were a little more competitive than they are right now. Hopefully they'll see signs of improvement and will be able to give Frankfort a better run in the coming years.

This is a great example of the water down 6 class system.

 

You are correct as to why FHS plays, Franklin Co, Sheldon Clark, Danville, and any other bigger school willing to play.

Eminence is usally loaded with athletes. They have potential be a threat year in and year out do to the number of skilled athletes they have.

The drive to Brooksville will be the hardest thing Frankfort has to deal with. Do they have a freshman or JV team they could take to start this game for experience? Is this district going to change next year and if so who is going where?

The district will certainly change next year. Frankfort and Eminence will stay 1A, though I don't know if they will remain in the same district. Trimble Co and Gallatin Co will move up to 2A. I don't remember where Bracken Co fell.

By all accounts Bracken County will stay in 1A next year. It would seem possible that Frankfort, Eminence, and Bracken could be in the same district, although it would be possible for Bracken to be placed somewhere else.

Agreed. And they typically field a nice 1A team. They just don't seem as good this year as some years in the past.

Seems likely. Obviously Frankfort would be a huge favorite there, but Eminence can be frisky and Nicholas County seems to be much improved.

Bracken County will never compete with these three in the future if you go by middle school and grade school scores,which are usually around the 60-0 variety, thought BC may get put in a district with say Dayton,Ludlow, Bishop Brossart and Bellevue.
