BG playing Trinity to two points is a moral victory for the Purples.

If you compare scores between Bowling Green/Trinity and Highlands/Trinity, it appears that the Purples and Birds should be fairly comparable to one another. I'd still call Highlands the favorite there, but tonight's game has to prove to many (including the Purples) that Bowling Green is perhaps the one other team capable of winning 5A.

Yes, playing within two of Trinity is a moral victory.

I'd have to say that BG took away something from this game (besides the loss in the W-L column). The only wild card in this is the QB injury situation for Trinity, and how much Trinity having to play their 3rd-4th string QB impacted the score.

 

I will say that nearly every team in KY would have a hard time coming within two points of Trinity, regardless of which QB was playing for T.

Of course they did. No other explanation for BG keeping it close.

The BG people can deny it all they want but Trinity did beat them with their number 4 QB, who by the way took his first reps of the season at QB in practice this week. He had been playing WR exclusively.

I understand what you are saying, but then again having to play without athletes because of injury is most certainly part of the game of football, and in the end a team (Trinity in this case) has to make due with what is available. The game ended 14-12... that's way closer than probably everyone thought the scoring margin would be.

This score was way closer than I thought it would be. After the seeing the goings on of the event, I wasn't surprised at all. That said, if I were in BG's shoes I would be very optimistic about my team's chances as we went further. So, yes, moral victory achieved.

I don't think it is a moral victory for BG. Hasn't BG played Trinity close on more than one occasion? At some point "moral victories" need to become victories. I think this is only a moral victory for BG in the eyes of those who believe that BG should have lost 59-14.
