I agree. I just don't see how a team like Boone can beat Henry Clay and Scott County at there field and loose to CC. Congrats to Campbell on the win. They look to be getting better as the season goes on. Until Thompsons out at Qb and they learn to throw the ball to the biggest TE in NKY with GREAT hands it's downhill from here. I can't stand to watch a group of kids who work so hard and loose due to coaching and the Qb situation.

 

Well they threw to the tight end last night and he fumbled. You can't blame all these losses on one kid. The QB has to make plays, but so do the recievers. They have to get open, catch the ball and hold on to it.

One fumble doesn't win or loose that game. You continue to try to get him the ball unless you're the dumbest coordinator in the state. Thompson threw interceptions and failed to locate receivers, does Boone take the ball out of his hands? The running backs have fumbled numerous times, but Boone continues to run them 90% of the time. Have some common sense and realize what talent you have on the field regardless of one fumble that was due to fighting for extra yards and not protecting the ball. I'd hit that kid 10 plus times every game just to watch him punish and drag the little db's down the field. Brown is set for a nice future with Miami of Ohio, so I hope he doesn't let this get him too frustrated. I know the kid and he will bounce back from this ONE fumble; the question is, will the offensive coordinator realize what he has as a weapon. Probably not! The losses aren't being blamed on the kid (Thompson), it's the staff for not realizing he's out of position. From what I understand the players are continuing to support him which is good, but let's be realistic on what's going on there!

There's two that deserve a shot regardless of class. They seem to be QB athletic type players, and one has thrown some very nice passes from a reverse play that Boone runs, and the other looked fairly well in JV competition but the decision to replace is completely up to coach Thompson. If Boone is going to remain a strictly run team, the the younger Thompson is fine at QB and Boone will continue to go downhill not because of him, but because of the system they continue to believe is effective. Bottom line for younger kids in the Rebels district, if you're an aspiring receiver or throwing QB, stay away from Boone County or plan to spend a lot of time at exposure camps to get yourself noticed until that system gets with the ages. I know high school is more than the sporting programs so maybe it's not that serious as we see it.

I don't think you know much about these quarterbacks. Although Thompson isn't perfect he throws better than the sophomore and runs much better than Schwartz. Thompson escaped pressure a lot of times because he can run! Plus in the summer those other 2 had shots and he beat them both out! Now from what others tell me and from the Thompson kid himself, his dad played no role in choosing the QB. Freshman year there was the same problem for this class, Thompson beat out Schwartz and another kid, he won 3 and lost 1 then moved up to JV QB. After he left, the freshman team went 2-4. Other than the reverse pass on Friday Schwartz was put in some, and given the opportunity to throw a few times, he was sacked because he didn't get rid of the ball when soon enough, he had time to throw. Also everyone saying the kid cant run, have you ever watched him play? he runs hard and upfield, doesn't shy away from contact and delivers a blow. And one more time i'd say the 2 dropped touchdowns that Thompson threw are what beat them. The kid Thompson didn't lose this game and he didn't play bad either, he gets the job done and now the rest of the rebels need to do the same.

Did you see him get burnt multiple times? He is VERY good in zone coverage with great ball skills and hands, but running is not his thing. He hustles no doubt but just doesn't have the speed.

I know the JV quarterback is supposed to be good but not sure if at this point in time he'd do any better than Thompson. He looked okay at the JV game on Saturday, not outstanding in my opinion. The game is won and lost on the line, our offensive line has to pass block and run block and we can win.

Boones line is just not getting it done up front right now, I thought Boone was going to be able to run the ball great this year with an experinced back they have, from all the games I've seen there weakiest point is up front. Until they can get pass protection and be able to run block the Rebels will be in for a long season.

Teams know that Boone is strictly run run run, I don't know many high school or college offensive lines that can win a battle with 8 or 9 in the box. The Rebels forced Scott County linebackers to back off by completing a few short underneath pass routes, and then the Oline was able to control the trench.

Maybe the Camels had something to do with the Rebels not playing as well as the Boone Co. faithful would have liked. The Camels had their fair share of turnovers and penalties. Campbell County is missing one of their top receivers as well.

I was thinking the samething. Campbell County came out for all 4 quarters and played very well. It was nice to see after the last couple of games from them.

Boone's style will not change until they have a new head coach. He still follows the Owen Hauck school of offense, which is good enough to be respectable most years, and make the play-offs, but not good enough to beat the best teams. Even when Alexander played, they were too one-dimensional and predictable to win the state championship.

Maybe it has something to do with who's coaching the team. I sense there is a little daddy ball being played here. I don't care what qb's are competing at Boone,Thompson would be the starting qb on this team. I talked to many sources close to the team and they all say, "Thompson is not the best qb for this team". I'm curious how you can you have a qb that can't see over the offensive line to throw the ball?
