John Gibson went to UK for football before he played basketball at NKU. Matt Daniels went to University of Louisville.

I see what you are saying, but there is a kid on about every team in the state that has d3 type of talent. d2 football in general is not big in the NKY area, almost non-existant. There are so many kids that go out for the d3 schools, it is hard to say how good they are until they actually get to campus and get on the field. Where as a d1 scholarship propect you know he is good before he gets to college. SK has improved but there isn't much that points to them being on the elite programs levels. I don't see it.

 

NAIA is big in Ky and SK probably has a handful of NAIA players on this years squad. Not just anybody is going to go play D3 either my man you have to have showed something that the coaches like, yea its as small as it gets but the goal is still to win. If anybody could go to Thomas More to play football their team would consist of players from Bellevue, Ludlow, Dayton and many other lower tier schools that don't really dominate the football scene in NKY. But there not for example their freshman RB Hayden from Lexington is a stud and the staff at TMC new he was going to be a steal. I'd say that many of the consistent winners aka Highlands are made up mostly of NAIA or D3 level players with maybe one or two D1 players, which is exactly what SK has this year a solid team with many boys that will play at the next level, how high of a level is to be determined. A few years ago at SK when I graduated the thought of playing football after high school was non existent, that's growth my friend and to be a contender you have to grow little by little.

You are correct in the sense that lots of establsihed programs are made up of a lot of d3 players, but SK has had d3 players and still havent really come close to winning anything. If they come close then I will consider them a contender. What makes you think that they will be a consistent contender when the last time they played in the state championship they got "rocked"? Pun inteded. These past few years is the most talent SK has ever had (to my knowledge) and they haven't won anything.

I have to admit that this is my first time posting/responding to anything on BGP. I usually like to check out the scores, schedules etc. But not long ago, I came across something that made me belly laugh and spit my coffee all over my keyboard! I thought to myself "This little kid (UK#1fan) has some acorns getting on here and posting his opinion about his big brothers high school football team. How cute! I wonder if big brother even knows he is in his room on his PC running his little errr BIG mouth about SK of all teams. Surely this is a child because an adult would use spell check at least once in a while." I took it in stride for a while but you really are too much. When you started talking about 5 yrs down the road being right there with the Big Boys, I couldn't resist.

 

I can just imagine what it must be like at your house on a Saturday morning. Mom: "Hey Corky, I am making breakfast. Would you like bacon or sausage?" uk#1fan: "Lucky charms have green clovers, and yellow moons so your bacon sucks." Mom: "We are having eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy and either bacon or sausage. Choose one please and take off your brothers helmet and put your pull-ups back on. That's a potted plant, not a toilet." uk#1fan: "Green clovers are the best and your breakfast sucks mom!" I hope you understand the analogy. Any kid who graduates and wants to play D3 football can play they do not turn away players. Pretty much the same for NAIA.
