There are a lot of irrational people out there today - on the air and on the speaker side of the radio listening. Look at how many people still want to clutch to Obama being a muslim and not being a citizen. It's a little scary these days watching the extremists on both sides growing in numbers.

I've watched all that you list and I've watched Beck and I've listened to Beck on his radio show.

 

All of the others have their viewpoints and hit them hard.

 

Beck is different and I believe Beck's fans are different than those of the others. I have zero problem saying that he's turned into a "leader" for his fans. While many of us are smart enough to see through his schtick he obviously has people that take what he says as gospel (pun fully intended). 100k people do not travel to DC in the heat of the summer to hear an "entertainer."

 

He's wrapped himself in God and his followers are eating it up and simply ignore his many lies. I'm sure they rationalize it away.

You're not following along. There is a distinct difference between the message that Beck gives and every other partisan talking head gives. Beck's is filled with religious fervor and IMO his followers (not those that view him as an entertainer) do indeed go out and deliver the message he gives unconditionally. Even Rush's followers IMO are not like Beck's.

By the way, I do enjoy the fact that no one is disputing that he flat out lied again.

Glenn is an entertainer from my perspective with many listeners. His word is what it is. I do not put a lot of stock in to it either way. To me it seems the the anti-Beck crowd holds the guy to a higher standard than the pro-Beck crowd.

I see those in the anti-Beck, anti-Rush, etc. camp more apt to put these guys on a much higher pedestal than what they really are (even in their own minds) and they want to anoint them as the leaders of the Republican party because they are out there in meatball land. These guys are entertainers.

How dangerous is that though? Stewart and Colbert are clearly entertainers while Beck, however, isn't. It's a thin line to walk. If Beck is an entertainer, he needs to make it more clear. John Stewart wouldn't ever hold a rally on the Lincoln Memorial, so why does Beck?

I can partially agree with that.

 

However, it's not political leaders that are driving conversation so some probably do use the words of Rush as the official word of the party.

To be fair I'm sure there were many, many intelligent people there.

 

However, give credit to the kid doing the interview for not letting these people off the hook without being confrontational.
