This country has become way to politically correct for me.

 

I'm sure it puts me in the minority here, but there are often times that I agree.

I really think we are all being very naive if we think that there will not be another attack on our soil. Not if, but when. We had a group of Muslim terrorists broken up in Burlington, KY not so long ago. I wonder how people would feel if a right wing Christian extremist group that were followers of Tim McVeigh wanted to build a place to worship and praise Mr. McVeigh next to the site of the Oklahoma City bombing? Would everyone here say, ahhh......it's ok, it's there right to be there as long as the property is zoned for a place of worship. This country has become way to politically correct for me.

 

While I agree about the political correctness, let's be realistic. Terrorist attacks will occur by Muslims, Christians, Jews, Atheists...etc., whether there's a mosque in Florence or not. I think some are viewing a mosque as an Al Qaeda training camp and that is simply not true.

I never said there was any rationalization. That's the thing. I'm saying there is not rationalization at all...none for 9/11, non for anti-Muslim sentiments.. You are using 9/11 as a rationalization for anti-Muslim sentiments.

 

Those are your words. I choose not to forget that 9/11 occured-and I am not anti-Muslim, but recoginze that Muslims did do the killing.

Yeah, because every terrorist attack that's happened has been carried out by Muslims...

 

And yes, they would be in their right to build that hypothetical place. We can't just adhere to the constitution when it fits our arguements and political beliefs like many on here do.

Umm the people who you are in favor of restricting rights for are in large part American citizens. I wasn't aware that the Islamic faith had a national anthem....

I'd venture to guess it's less than 1%...

Based on a demographic study done by Pew Research Center, in 2009 there were 2,454,000 Muslims in the United States of America (I tried to do other research, but several websites only provided estimates). Let us assume that even just 1% of that believed that 9/11 was a "victory", that still leaves almost 25,000 Muslims.

 

Is that a lot? Idk, just putting some statistics to the discussion.
