I work with a LOT of Muslims. In the days following 9/11, many feared for their own lives. Most that I work with are from Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia. They were as shocked and appalled as the Christians, Jews, Agnostics and Athiests I work with.

Yet their fear that they would be killed did not come about. Meanwhile the cowards that flew the planes into buildings, and were Muslims, did kill thousands of innocent folks.

Thankfully they weren't killed. And many while not surprised, have expressed how different their fate may have been had they lived in their native countries and a similar situation had occurred.

 

Meanwhile, the cowards that flew the planes into buildings were Muslim extremists who don't represent the views of the majority of Muslims. And yes, they did kill thousands of innocent folks, including Muslims.

I would think that anything more than .1% would be in issue...wouldn't it?

 

And, how would you ever prove how they felt about it? After the Germans surrendered in WWII, how hard was it to find people who claimed themselves to be Nazi's in Germany. I know its a television show, but I read "Wild Bill" Guarnere's book and he said that he was amazed that all the time he spent in German, he never met a Nazi (with a sarcastic tone).

 

What they may think vs. what they proclaim...you'll never know, will you?

I don't believe a large percentge of the victims, outside of the killers themselves, were Muslims. I wonder what would happen if 20 christians blew up 3000 innocents in Somalia? I wonder what the worldwide reaction be?

I never said there was any rationalization. That's the thing. I'm saying there is not rationalization at all...none for 9/11, non for anti-Muslim sentiments.. You are using 9/11 as a rationalization for anti-Muslim sentiments.

Let me ask you this. Why does it matter if it was 1 person or 3000 that died that day? If it were you relative killed in an abortion clinic bombing, would you feel worse, or better, or any differently at all if others were killed? I don't think so. The issue would be the senslessness of the killing. Not the number of people killed.

I took the 9/11 attack as extreme Muslims killing Americans, not Christians. And if they killed Muslim Americans in the way, so be it.

No one is trying to rationalize it.

 

I'm trying to gain an understanding of why anyone would lump all Muslims, especially all Muslim-Americans, in with the crazies that were responsible for 9/11, which is exactly what you're doing.

 

Just because the Christian crazies targets have been on a smaller scale, doesn't mean it's not the same thing. Do you really think if they could find an abortion clinic the same scale as the WTC's they wouldn't go after it?

I really think we are all being very naive if we think that there will not be another attack on our soil. Not if, but when. We had a group of Muslim terrorists broken up in Burlington, KY not so long ago. I wonder how people would feel if a right wing Christian extremist group that were followers of Tim McVeigh wanted to build a place to worship and praise Mr. McVeigh next to the site of the Oklahoma City bombing? Would everyone here say, ahhh......it's ok, it's there right to be there as long as the property is zoned for a place of worship. This country has become way to politically correct for me.
