How St. Xavier can be ranked over Trinity is beyond me. According to everyone Trinity is loaded with talent and the coaching staff that just keeps them improving.

 

This 6A top ten ranking is one of the toughest to compile, after placing Trinity at number one, as I have seen in awhile. Henry Clay comes into the jungle Friday night for a scrimmage against the St. Xavier Tigers for an early match up of top ten teams making the list. The Northern Kentucky powers Ryle and Simon Kenton should be much improved over last year's very good teams. The Jefferson County teams are loaded with Division 1 talent and appear to be amassing strong role players around them. Scott County, as has been repeated often in recent history, is again set to make a run.

 

I see some real competetive football on the horizon in 6A.

And how Desales can be ranked #2 is way beyond me !!!!! They lost 26 seniors and will be rebuilding at best . They will realize how good that class was as the season goes along .

03,05,07 and 08 must have really gotten to you man to cause such chronic sandbagging. There is no good reason we should be #1.We are mostly sophomores and juniors and no matter how talented those classes may be they still don't have much experience. Besides the old mantra still stands in my mind, the defending champ is the top team until dethroned. So sorry X,you are #1.

I would assume that given the small number of first place votes for each class that this poll only had response from a small segment of coaches, am I correct in this assumption?

I disagree. JC isn't better that Christian County or Owensboro. I would put them ahead of Pulaski however...

 

How do we know who is better then who. When we haven't played a game this season. Are we going on tradition or what is the thinking? Is it location? Just wondering. Thanks:idunno:

I think for High School, the first poll should not come out till after week 4, and college polls shouldn't begin to after the first Saturday of October. Having said all of that, the only thing preseason polls are good for, is to fire up fans, whose team is being disrespected, and for other fans to disrespect a team that is rated higher than their team.

Is it possible to agree more than 100%? Because I do. I guess it doesn't really matter in high school because the postseason is determined by district standings, but it does present something of an unfair starting point for collegiate teams.

I agree with you. The polls for HS have no bearing come playoff time, but on the college end it really can hurt a darkhorse.
