August 15, 201016 yr I am sure you can tell a strike from home better than the technology that is used today. Yes honestly I do. It's bad.
August 15, 201016 yr The strike zone is the same every game. Knees to letters, corner to corner of the plate. That is a "strike". Now umpires give pitches that are off the plate and have been doing it forever and now pitchers are accustomed to getting those calls even though they are off the plate technically. Fox Trax, ESPN K-Zone and all of the other strike zone things are technically correct on what is and isn't a strike, they go by the correct length and width that it's supposed to use. It's all about people wanting to get the call. It's quite simple actually, if the ball isn't between the knees and letters and doesn't cross the plate within the length of the plate then it's not a strike.
August 15, 201016 yr So no one gets ejected for a monster fight the other night but Votto yaps about a strike call and gets tossed, makes sense right?
August 15, 201016 yr BTW, I know some, myself included, were wondering why Russ Springer got fined from the fight the other night. Apparently, there is a rule for leaving the bench while not on the 40 man roster. Since Springer was on the DL it's an automatic fine when you leave the bench. I'm sure UKmustangfan knew that, though.
August 15, 201016 yr Bailey should learn something from Leake and Wood and work a little faster. And low less pitches, he already has 63.

August 15, 201016 yr I used to like the NL because the pitchers got to bat, but over the years and the more I've thought about it I wish they would go to the DH.
August 15, 201016 yr And low less pitches, he already has 63. The first inning killed him in that regard.
