Some points of divergence from previous posts:

*** I put J’town at #1 with the assumption that Cosby and Price are both there and eligible.

*** With Lexington Catholic’s departures, I don’t see them being a top-10 team until proven otherwise. They will be a good team who can force other teams to play their system/pace, but I think top-10 is a stretch given the loss of Beckham, Morton, and Peurach. I got to see the Scott Co/Lexington Catholic JV game last year (in addition to seeing the Lex Cath JV on another occasion), and came away far more impressed with what Scott Co. had.

As it stands right now I think that the 11th is topped by Scott Co, whose narrowly ahead of Tates Creek. The #3-5 slots could be filled by any combination of Lex Cath, Bryan Station, and Lafayette once the dust settles, with Madison Central possibly vying for a spot depending on the strength and development of Hawkins' supporting cast.

No love for GRC? They return all but one player and were in battles with the 7th regions best all year. This team should have taken care of business in the Mason County invitational and they had a shot at a state tourney win. This is my choice for the team to beat, senior year for a bunch of talent. I wouldn't want to play them come March.....IMHO!

Corrected the region

Elliott County could crack the list with the whole team returning from a 20+ win season last year! Depending on the schedule with Timmy and crew Elliott could rack up 30 wins which would put them in the hunt for top 10 status.

:idunno: Top 10 in the state? Are they even the hands down pre-season #1 team in the 16th region?

Top team in the 16, yes. Top 10 in the state, no. They don't have the guard play to be a top 10 team, IMO.

Outside of Knipp I don't think they have another top 150-200 player in the state. Knipp's extremely good but he isn't the 2nd coming of Michael Jordan.

GRC is the team that probably returns the most talent and starters. GRC only had one Senior last year, and he did not start every game. Bopper Stenzel has had a great summer in AAU and should see alot of playing time at PG. He was hurt most of last year and saw little action.

Most have Christian Co in their top 5, along with GRC. These two teams square off opening the season on Dec 3rd at Tates Creek. Would be a good chance to see 2 of the top 5 teams play each other.

The two Johnson kids (not related) are not coming to Georgetown. They have reloaded but with the kids that have been in the program for several years. They went 34-3 this summer. Two losses to Eastern and one to Lawrence North they should of won. This team is very quick and will score alot off their defense. May struggle at times in the half court. Thet are VERY young and thats whats scary.

If Creek stays healthy this year they will push Scott Co. Of all the teams I saw this year in the 11th. These two are are a little ahead of Lafayette, Catholic, Station, and Henry Clay.

Call it what ever you want, the MC invite, the Royal walk or even cheaters paradise. This simple fact remains, not but maybe a hand full of high schools in the last 30 yrs. in this basketball crazed state has had the tradition and success that Mason Co. has enjoyed! When a tradition rich Maysville high consolidated with tradition rich Mason Co., people should have seen the writing on the wall.
