July 30, 201016 yr I don't normally...But since I've been told all I do is shove them down everyone's throats, I thought I might as well start. I didn't notice what you said at the end of the stats you posted until just now . We're going to have to change your name to StatmasterUKMF :thumb:.
July 30, 201016 yr Author I just always thought he was overrated and never saw him as a top 5 guy. Carson just doesn't make those "it" plays the way other top QBs do and he never really has IMO. If I'm starting a team I take alot of guys in front of him as my QB. He put up great #'s in his really good years, but to me he just was the same type of QB as even an Eli Manning or a Matt Ryan, let alone top 5 guys like Brees, Peyton Manning or Brady. In theory Carson is a very good QB, but when push comes to shove I just have never trusted him. To be honest I think his closest comparison is Tony Romo in terms of how good he was. How can you say he hasn't had any of those "It" plays? 2005-2007 he had a lot of those. Shoot in 2006 he did everything he could to get his team in the playoffs, and had those "It" plays as you call them on what should have been game winning or tying drives against the Broncos and Steelers. If they don't pull a Bungles, then everyone talks about what Palmer did. Last year alone even in a year when he didn't have much help when it came to passing, he had 4 4th quarter wins. Should have had 5 if the Bengals didn't Bungle away the Broncos game, then the Chargers game he was having them go down there until Caldwell fumbled. Palmer has had those "It" plays, however unlike these other teams his teams find away to blow it after he had done it. All these top QB's that you have mentioned have had their guys step up and make plays for them catching the ball, or holding the lead after they get it at the end. I think you can even admit, that Palmer has had some horrible luck in his Bengal career. When other QB's have had "It" plays their teams don't blow it after, while Palmer has had it happen a lot to him.
July 30, 201016 yr Author I think he'll have a better year than last. To me, this is really a make or break season on what type of QB Palmer will be known as. Couldn't agree more. The talent is finally in place in all areas for a deep run. They really don't have any noticable weaknesses at this point. It's put up or shut up time for Palmer. I completely agree with both. I sure hope he does great, because I have been putting my neck on the line since last year, saying if he has the weapons he will be one of the best again. He has the weapons, so I either will be giving people a lot of crow, or taking a lot myself haha.

Guys like Brady, Brees, Manning, Big Ben and even Matt Ryan make everyone better. They don't have to complain that guys don't make plays because they help their guys learn to make them. You and others have talked about the unstoppable Bengals defense, but yet it can't hold on to leads? It doesn't add up. It's just excuses. He's had bad luck but every QB not named Peyton Manning has had to play with poor skill players around them at some point or another. Bengals fans follow a false prophet, Palmer is nothing more than Drew Bledsoe IMO. A starting NFL QB who looks really good when he has talent around him and average when he doesn't.

How many Super Bowls would Tom Brady have if not for his special teams? How many Super Bowls would Brees have even been in if not for Special teams? Or an amazing defensive interception.Or even Brady getting really lucky on a rule on the Oakland snow game. I didn't know Palmer could control his defense giving up a crazy tip for a touchdown. Or his field goal snapper being able to snap it right, or his holder being able to catch it, or his field goal kicker making it. Brady, Brees, and well most of QB's that we consider the best all needed help to have big moments. They needed help from things they had no control of. Like field goals, or defense making plays. All they could do was put their team in position, and the other parts of the team had to do their thing. For these guys to be considered what they all, they need help from the other two phases of football to get it done. So its easy to talk about the "It" moments for other guys, when their teams got it done for them too. Now this year as mentioned will be the year to really tell us something. For the first time they should have all three phases covered, just like these other teams with top QB's. This year will be a make it or break it year for Palmer, and would help settle a lot of this.
July 30, 201016 yr Author Not to mention a QB that you seem to love, use to struggle with not much talent around him and was not considered an elite QB. However once he got the talent around him, and an offensive system for him he really took off. It just shows it takes a lot for someone to be considered a top QB. You need help around you, and also need a system that is best for you. A system that is usually open and pass first.

July 30, 201016 yr Author And what would you call it? Most NFL people have openly even said that Palmer has one of the best arms in the league.
July 30, 201016 yr Author I am getting off for the night though. I think we both have heard each others arguments over and over by now, and not much else to say. We will just have to see how it all plays out. I can't wait for it to start!
July 30, 201016 yr Most NFL people have openly even said that Palmer has one of the best arms in the league. I'd say middle of the road just off of my own observations. Favre, Rodgers, Schaub, Roethlisberger, McNabb, Brees are just a few that have stronger arms. It's not weak by any means. I'll stick with average.
July 30, 201016 yr Time to play guess the QB (these stats are 5 QBs over the same two year period)..... Player A: Brees 669-1029, 65%, 7,871 yds, 60 TDs, 24 INTs, 97.5 QB Rating Player B: Eli 715-1220, 58.6%, 7,766 yds, 38 TDs, 47 INTs, 71.8 QB Rating Player C: Favre 679-1054, 64.4%, 7,994 yds, 50 TDs, 26 INTs, 92.7 QB Rating Player D: Peyton 667-1010, 66%, 8,144 yds, 59 TDs, 19 INTs, 102.6 QB Rating Player E: Carson 653-1046, 62.4%, 7,639 yds, 50 TDs, 26 INTs, 90.1 QB Rating How's that for stats for ya Spindoc.... ...
July 30, 201016 yr Yes that is the one. Um...The Bengals WR core last year looked like a Pro Bowl team compared to what Brees was throwing to when he came into the league. He figured it out and got better though. Teams figured out Carson and he got worse.
