What caused hurricanes before we broke the "delicate balance"??

 

Storms (and hurricanes) intensify with weather swings - cold or hot. That's fact.

 

Warmer climate and warmer water makes for worse hurricanes. That's natural science. It would make sense to claim that a raise in water temperature made hurricanes get worse - it's whether you believe that mankind created the change in water temperature that is your argument.

I'm not sure who Pat Robertson is? So I defeinitely didn't steal the idea, maybe had a similar one. Is this a compliment or insult? lol

 

My reason asking because at the time of the Old Testament it was written that this was the explanation for the flood or however you describe what happened with Sodom and Gomorrah. I wonder if what happened to New Orleans could be described in the same way?

I think she was making a joke. Pat blamed Katrina on New Orleans. Said it was their punishment for all the sinning going on.

I don't know why this crossed my mind yesterday while I was sitting in church, but I wasn't exactly interested in the message and my mind starting wondering. I apologize if this topic has been discussed here before.

 

There are numerous stories in the bible of God bringing his wrath down on the people for different reasons. I am particularly referring to Soddom and Gomorrah, as well as the Great Flood (Noah's story). Could Hurricane Katrina or other events be described in the same way? Could that be God's way of saying he is displeased, much like the two stories from the bible?

 

Just thought it would be an interesting discussion.

Pat Robertson is a TV evangelist that has his own show, the 700 Club. He sometimes makes some outlandish statements. He said that Hurricane Katrina was God's wrath as a result of abortion policy. He also blamed the Haitians for the 2010 earthquake as a result of 18th century slaves making deal with the devil to free themselves.

 

He also made a bid for the presidency back in...1988 maybe? Additionally, he has made many predictive statements that have failed to come true, including an end of the world scenario back in the 80s.

And unfortunately, people like Pat Robertson comprise the "face" of Christianity in the eyes of many people. I'm a committed Christian, and it irks me that a guy like Robertson is seen as a leader of my faith. I don't want people painting me with the same brush that they paint Pat Robertson. I'm not saying I'm better than him, or above him or anything to that effect, but he's made some incredibly outlandish statements that have tainted Christianity in the eyes of many.

I always find it amusing how the bible gets picked through like a garage sale to fit one's beliefs.

That is, unfortunately, true. However, those that use Robertson as their "see how awful Christians are!" really don't want to look at Christianity in a positive light, anyway. Still, he irks me to no end. But, like us all, he'll have to answer to the man up stairs for his actions.

I'm probably the only person who laughed at that post. When I first saw it, I read the verse reference and was expecting the next sentence to be the quote. When I saw, "Things happen...", I imagined reading that in the Bible.

 

How uplifting would that be?
