Miami Heat: Filling out the rest of the roster

Featured Replies

They could put Glove at the point, Kemp at the 4, and Bosh at the 5 and still win a lot of games. :D (Bosh doesn't want to play the 5 though).

JR Rider could come off the bench!

How about MJ? Didnt he say in his HOF speech that he may make a comeback :sssh:

JR Rider could come off the bench!

While on Slam Dunk Champs they need to bring back Harold Miner. :D

Then they should extend offers to Tim Hardway and Eddie Jones for outside shooting, and for some post depth bring back Rony Seikaly.

Haslem to take less money to resign with the Heat.

To bring Haslem back, and to get Mike Miller would be a great start to filling out the rest of this team. Two solid pieces.

Plus the rookies who will almost surely make the team - Vanardo, Pittman, De'Sean Butler and Latavious Williams. Williams is an interesting story. He is one year removed from high school, could not make the grades to get eligible for college so went straight to the Development League out of high school.

^ Yeah, I just hadn't put them on there yet. I probably should have though.

Big Z on the verge of signing a two year deal. Played pretty well last season before he got shipped out and had to sit out a month or two.

This doesn't look to bad

In fact I'd like it to win a championship, and thats not counting who else they could bring in. We all know Wade, Bron and Bosh are capable of and going to play big minutes, so don't really need that guy to spell them off the bench and steal minutes. You have Miller in case you do, and can play the 2G or SF position. Say you have him in the game you can bring Chalmers out (two year starter), move Bron to the Point, then run Miller at the 3. Haslem can come in and spell Bosh if needed, but can also come in for say a big Z, and perhaps play four while Bosh moves inside. Just these two or three acquisitions have opened things up so much for Miami (unless major injury). Miller has started and played significant minutes in the league, Chalmers has two years under his belt, and Haslem has started up to five seasons worth of games in the league. This not even considering the spot minutes they can get out of the rookies who all were seasoned and accomplished college players. Butler turned into Mr. Big Shot during the Big East and NCAA tourneys, Varnado is the NCAA career guy for blocks, and Pittman was always considered one of the top bigs in the country. Really liking the way this team is filling out. Would like to see maybe a Jason Williams brought in to play point, or a Rafer Alston. Both have played for Miami sort of recently, and both would be able to give a solid veteran presence from the PG position.

Williams had a good run in the D-League last year, however, his rights were traded to OKC, so he is not on the Miami roster.

Thanks for the update. I wasn't aware of that one.

Would be nice if Miami would still have his rights because that would mean out of the four (adding him to Butler, Pttman, and Varnado) the odds of at least one or two of them developing to be nice NBA players would be significantly higher. Being they will be playing behind the big boys for a few years they should have all the opportunities in the world to develop on a depleted roster. Its hard for a lot of second rounders to even get on the 12 man roster, much less three of them, so all of the Miami guys this year ended up in great situations and could pay off for them later on in their careers. If Williams keeps working and growing, he could find himself in somebodys rotation soon. The Thunder aren't terribly deep so he may be able to make an impact there in a couple of years.

Brad Miller and Zydrunas Ilgauskas have accepted offers to join the Heat, terms were not disclosed.
