How do you guys think Orton will do in the NBA?

Just OK.

Not a lot of upside for him.

I found it interesting that he missed his shots and missed with the elbow too.

He is a more athletic Randolph Morris with less offensive skills.

I think this is what we'll see out of Orton. He is big but needed to improve his shot ability before he went to the NBA. He'll be in the d league or overseas in 2 years.

The more and more I see Orton the more I think UK fans and maybe the rest of the sports world had it wrong on who was the most immature UK player. Orton seemed to be in many a verbal argument with opponents towards the end of the season and seemed to cause more of the physical issues.

 

I liked the kid and definately wish him the best, but I will stand by my opinion that of all the early defects from UK, this was by far the worst. I still fail to see much upside on this kid.

I have been saying since the SEC Tournament that Orton had more issues that Cousins.

Me too. I don't think he'll do anything in the NBA to be honest. Complete waste of a pick, IMO. Even if he wasn't behind Dwight Howard I still don't think he will be productive at any point in his career.

McRoberts was completely to blame for that scuffle.

For a sequel, Orton came out against the Jazz summer league team today and went for 2 points, 2 boards, and one steal on 0-6 shooting. His two points came from the free throw line. This in around 18 minutes of playing time.

He just seems confused out on the court. The Magic already have a center who is more athletic, has more height, is a better defensive player, and is questionable on offense. Worst case Howard needs to rest for a bit or gets in foul trouble, but still Orton isn't even second option yet and as we see more of him I think the Magic will question him as a third option.

 

I know what the article says about why Orton isn't regretting his decision just yet. And yeah, the upfront guaranteed money is definately there. Longterm however I worry about this kid's prospects. He is three years max away from being ready, yet I am not sure he will be given the time. Frankly I see the kid flaming out, not maturing quick enough for NBA teams, floundering around the lower ranks and ultimately taking his pay check whereever he can get it.

Magic already have a really good backup Center. Orton won't even sniff the floor unless one of them gets hurt.

In three years he will be a dominate player going against Howard in practice will help him when the season starts.
