After watching Travis Wood today are there still people out there that would like to include him in a deal for Cliff Lee or Dan Haren? Wood just turned 23 in February, and gave Reds fans a glimpse today of what he's capable of. There is no way I would include him in a deal for either Lee or Haren? What say the rest of you?

No way. But that's been my stance all along, today just backed up my line of thinking.

In a heart beat. He might have more value after another good start if it goes well. I would think w/ Chapman, Bailey, Leake, and Volquez they can give you what you get out of Wood over the next few years. Nobody can match what Lee would give them this year.

Why would the Reds mortgage their future to have Lee for a few months? If they would get Lee, I would envision them losing him at the end of the season and the prospects would be long gone as well. Not a good scenario imo. I would only make this deal if they had definite plans to sign Lee to a 4-5 year deal which is what he wants.

I wouldn't now and I said I wouldn't before this start.

I wouldn't call dealing Wood mortgaging their future. Sure he's a very good prospect. As of now all he is is a prospect. I think the Reds have a great shot at making the postseason. If they get Lee I'd say they would be favored to win the division. If that happened I'd love for Lee to take the hill in game 1 rather than Arroyo. Right now I feel the Reds biggest advantage isn't the top of the rotation it's the fact that they have better pitchers than most teams at the 3-5 positions. That goes away in the playoffs.

As do I. The #1 asset is young pitching. You cannot have too much.

 

I like a 2011 rotation featuring some combination of Volquez, Cueto, Bailey, Wood, LeCure, Chapman, and Arroyo.

 

Lets hope Harang keeps pitching well enough that some AL team will want him for the stretch run.
