Still too much for his services at this point in time IMO, he should get around 8-10, BUT, the Grizz had to do what they had to do to keep him around. Joe Johnson definitely not worth a max deal for the Hawks, or for anybody. Crawford played very well for the Hawks this year, not sure why they were so worried about Johnson. The way they are built I'm not sure they can get much further than they already have, I was thinking they may have wanted to part ways and start fresh. So much for that. Right... It goes up about 10% a year. It's a max deal.(For him)

What does he expect to happen when he himself builds up this date 2 years ago. Everyone is all Lebron all the time right now but there are going to be a bunch of unhappy fans when he picks his team and if it's not Cleveland it might be a lot bigger backlash. We shall see.

Rookie contracts are on a guaranteed scale through 3 years, with a 4th year option. Players in season 4, 5 and 6 are eligible for a maximum of 13.5 or so. Players in seasons 7-10 for the 16.5 (roughly) number that has been tossed around. 10+ are eligible for the true max amount, with annual raises. Interestingly enough players cannot get a deal longer than 4 years if their contract is taking them past 36, which is why Paul Pierce's max deal is about for 4 years. Salary cap stuff is really interesting.

Salary cap stuff is really interesting. What's bad is the owners had to do that to stop themselves from terrible contracts. What's worse is they still give ut terrible contracts. I am really itersted in the next CBA. The owners know most players live paycheck to paycheck.
July 2, 201016 yr I think all these guys staying pat is going to be terrible for the league. Wasn't horrible the way it was, but I agree to an extent. This offseason could have really shook up the power of the NBA, and so far everything is basically going to be the same, with some teams just getting older. I was really looking forward to a couple teams stepping up and getting into the serious picture. Hopefully that still may happen.

I was very happy with the way things were, but with the hype surrounding this offseason, if nothing really changes I think it's going to drive the causal fans, who have tuned in to see where the big names end up, away from the game. JMO.
