I don't know how you would call it buying, they have the same salary cap as the rest of the league. They were just the only ones who were smart enough and lucky enough to utilize the system and deplete the roster and bring in a front loaded star studded one. They have no advantages that other teams don't have, other teams are entitled to do the same if they can get the guys to come. Can't see how this would be buying a championship, especially when your going to have like six or seven guys playing for the league minimums.

I cannot believe Haslem took the Heat deal. He lost a crazy amount of money. The Heat should reward him and over pay him the next time his deal comes up. If Riley has any thing decent left in him (doubtful IMO) he will make sure this man has a job with the Heat for the rest of his career. I'm talking a front office position after he retires.

Yes RondoRules you are correct. The Florida Marlins are the last team that literally bought a championship. 1997 they loaded up and won and tore apart the roster after winning the World Series. Each of these guys have signed for 6 years. I'd say after these six years, the roster is torn apart and Miami fans will have nothing to cheer about starting in 2016-2017 season.

I don't care if you have made a billion dollars, turning down 15 million is alot of money. Maybe you don't feel sorry for athletes, but I do like to see them get their money when they can because so many of them are terrible with money. It's easy to say they should take better care of their money, but not many of us know what it's like to be making 4 million dollars a year, especially in a professional athlete's lifestyle.

 

It's easy to say that we would be better with our money if we were given the opportunity, but I don't think that is a given considering how many former athletes are hard up for money.

If a Haslem type situation happened in baseball the player's association would step in and try to nix any such deal from taking place.

Talk trash about our athletes for so long saying, oh they're all about the money they don't care if they win or not. Then you get some guys taking less to try and win some rings and how dare them, they should have went to Utah, or should have went here where they wont win and take the money. People we keep forgetting this is South Beach! If I already had a pretty adequate savings account and I had the chance to go to Salt Lake City for a touch more and still ride the pine and come in off the bench, or take less, stay in South Beach, come off the bench for one of the best teams in the league, I think I'm going option B.

Big Slick does, because with arbitration and all the other things in baseball, that would happen. As for the idea in general that people are killing the guy for taking less money to play on a better team, I just find it laughable because it goes against everything anyone has said in the past decade about athletes being all about the money. Then the minute a few guys go for the rings and not the money they get more flack than they did for going for the green. Hypocritical America, gotta love it.

May work out pretty good. Minnesota seems to be going for the athletic approach, as now Beasley looks to play the four, Wesley Johnson at the 3, and Corey Brewer will move to the 2 spot. Pretty young, long and athletic team, time will tell if it produces any results.

They wanted Beasley for some reason. I wouldn't be surprised to see Love getting a lot of clock at the 5, and them running that athletic, long, fast line up that I indicated. Flynn is the only one undersized, and he too is ultra explosive.

I don't see it. They wanted rid of Jefferson because him and Love couldn't play at the same time. Neither could guard the 5 spot. And now they're going to go even more undersized? Kevin Love a 6'9" Center with Beasley a 6'7" Power Forward in the Western Conference? If Jefferson and Love couldn't do it, you think that lazy sloth Beasley can?
