Big Slick does, because with arbitration and all the other things in baseball, that would happen. As for the idea in general that people are killing the guy for taking less money to play on a better team, I just find it laughable because it goes against everything anyone has said in the past decade about athletes being all about the money. Then the minute a few guys go for the rings and not the money they get more flack than they did for going for the green. Hypocritical America, gotta love it.

I was just wondering if NBA had anything similiar MLB player's association, I know he is from Florida and played his whole college and pro career there. I also heard he and Mike Miller are very good friends, so good for him doing what he wants.

He and Miller were teammates at Florida. Both Florida guys. I'd say they both wanted Miami as much as Miami wanted them.

I don't see it. They wanted rid of Jefferson because him and Love couldn't play at the same time. Neither could guard the 5 spot. And now they're going to go even more undersized? Kevin Love a 6'9" Center with Beasley a 6'7" Power Forward in the Western Conference? If Jefferson and Love couldn't do it, you think that lazy sloth Beasley can?

Love is actually 6'10'' at the least, Beasley, actually an athletic 6'9'' when he wants to be athletic. Love is certainly a back to the basket post player, as was Jefferson, thats why it couldn't work. NBA teams more and more are going to a stretch four, like a Rashard Lewis type for Orlando a couple of years ago when they had Turkoglu. You see it with David Lee, you see it with Dirk, you see it all over the league now. Teams want their four to be able to play on the perimeter, and Beasley can do that.

I feel you on the Beasley sentiment, I have been as big of critic on Beasley as there is so far. He is the laziest player in basketball, and to this point not put his talent to use. I even coined my own phrase, he caught green paper syndrome, when referring to Beasley in a previous thread a couple of weeks ago. BUT, with all that said, this is only going to make his third year in the league. It takes a couple of years for some guys to develop in this league, and the system is extremely important in doing so. Personally, I have also felt Beasley to perhaps maybe more effective from the three spot, but thats just me. Unless he quits being so lazy it doesn't matter where he plays, he will never reach his potential. There is still a lot of talent in there with Beasley and we saw it at K-State, I've been very critical in his lack of effort thus far, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel on him just yet. As I also said in a previous thread, it takes post guys a lot longer to come along in the NBA then it does wing guys, and being forced into the 4 spot and to play major minutes and give major contributions is why Beasley hasn't developed as quickly as a Rose, a Mayo, a Gordon, or some of the other guys he came into the league with. If hes still giving the same effort and production in five years, then I'll label him a bust, but as a 21, 22, 23 year old, theres no way I'd consider giving him that label yet. Beasley is a scorer, thats what he does. Teams shouldn't expect him to automatically come in and be a defensive stopper and board machine, he scores, thats what he does.

 

I feel Miami would have liked to have kept him if the salary situation was right. Fact of the matter is they needed a three point shooter and veteran post depth a lot more than him. When you have somebody like Lebron, and Bosh taking his minutes at his spots, I think its a safe bet to give him away and address some of those other needs.

Your completely missing my point man. Minny traded Jefferson because they want Love to play the 4. They do not think he can play the 5 at all. They really, really like Love, after all they are sending away a guy who can get 20 and 10 a night. Love is a double-double machine, they love him, and I see no way he plays with Beasley.

I'm not missing your point, I'm just saying, most teams play there best players, and Minnesotta will now be better served to have to play Love at the five because he is the better option than Hollins.

I'm not the coach, and I see what your saying I really do. I just feel that having Beasley and Love is a lot more effective than Love and Darko. That could just be me, but having Love and Darko would basically give you the same options at both the four and five as well, so if they want versatility, Love takes Jeffersons place at the five, Beasley goes four. I could see scenarios where Darko comes off the bench and him and Love play together, but as a starting lineup I couldn't see Darko and Love in there together. Could just be me though, and just my opinion, not saying your wrong.

In theory, I would go with your suggestion. But, Love just is not effective when he has to play center and he's probably the best player on the team now so he needs to be in the spot where he can be most effective. To be honest with you there really isn't much difference in Beasley and Darko to me. Beasley should be better, but he's just not.

That's what I've been hearing as well, thus my argument. Heard that the day after they made the Jefferson trade.

 

They also freed up a lot of cap space by moving Big Al, so this could be a team, depending on how they grow together, that could end up like the Thunder. Young, athletic, and talented.
