June 29, 201016 yr Saw this debate earlier on ESPN. Would a team full of stars like James/Wade/Bosh trio be good for the NBA? Or is it bad for the NBA since it takes even more away from competitive balance?
June 29, 201016 yr I think it'd be great. I think it would spawn similar teams. Like GT, how did it work for Boston? Quite well. Imagine if they would have hooked up 6 years ago...... I also think it would make everyone collectively step their game up. You'd have to to have a chance.
June 29, 201016 yr Was it good or bad for Boston??? That wasn't the question. Would it be good for the NBA if the players controlled so much? Would it be good for the top 15 players to only play on 5 teams? I think it would be great unless you're a fan of the small market teams.
June 29, 201016 yr That wasn't the question. Sorry. I'll make sure to PM you my posts before I submit from here on out...

I think it would be great unless you're a fan of the small market teams. I get so tired of hearing all that "small market" talk. Cleveland is a small market and just spends a lot of money on useless players. Same in baseball, everyone whines about the teams that spend money when David Glass owned the Royals for years and refused to spend his money. I think it is good for the league. If you don't want to reinvest your $$ on your team, either get out of the business or don't whine about it.

If I ask you who the best team in college basketball is I wouldn't expect to hear about UC football. If the Bulls bringl in LBJ and Bosh it's great for the Bulls obviously. The question was if it was good for the league.

If you don't want to reinvest your $$ on your team, either get out of the business or don't whine about it. To compare the leagues is absurd. If Cleveland was a huge market LBJ would stay and free agents would think Cleveland was a good destination. As it stands most free agents want to go to big cities that have more to offer than Cleveland. That's what I meant by small market. There's a salary cap and the current teams can offer more money and an extra year to encourage NBA players to stay w/ their team even if it's a small market. It still isn't going to work here. These guys want the power and control and quite frankly they deserve it. I just don't know how good it is for the league.

If it was Bosh would have been a bigger deal in Toronto. The three guys that went to Boston were HUGE for the NBA. Not just Boston. Better???

Not just Boston. Better??? I don't understand why you're being snide, but yes. I partially agree. It's got to be better for the NBA to have Boston, LA, NY, and Chicago to be the best teams. It's probably not better as far as competetiveness though if all of the huge names go to 4 teams. I'm not a fan of any one team. I personally would love for their to be 4 super teams w/ two in the East and West. I wouldn't want to be a Pacers fan though.
June 30, 201016 yr I think it would be great if theu ended up in a place like Miami or Memphis. Anywhere but Boston , NY, Chicago and LA-so boring
June 30, 201016 yr If it has people talking and interested in the NBA then it is good for the league.
June 30, 201016 yr I think it would be bad. All it would be is a Laker/whoever gets Bosh and LBJ final lock. Regular season would be a waste of time.

The Thunder took them to 6 and young teams like that will be up and coming. The Lakers are not going to dominate forever.

If the Lakers meet them in the Western finals, I'm saying they take them in 5 or a sweep. First round is a completely different story. They're a good squad but no way they compete with the Lakers when things get super serious.
