July 3, 201016 yr 11 games over, leading the division and 4-1 to start the tough 14 game stretch going into the break. Enjoy it? Hell no. Let's complain about Stubbs... No kidding...kinda annoying. Starting pitcher was great and the team shutouts a divisional rivalry 12-0 and yet some people will still find something to complain about.
July 3, 201016 yr Author If Gary Matthews Jr. continues to hit well in AAA I think you have to give him a shot in the big leagues with the recent struggles of Stubbs. I love what Stubbs brings to the table with his speed, but he wasn't ready for major league pitching. Stubbs goes through streaks. He'll start hitting again soon. I wouldn't want to take a chance on messing with the team chemistry right now.
July 3, 201016 yr Did I just read that someone would rather have Dunn than Stubbs on this team? WOW! You read someone (me) reminding people that we used to have a K king (like Stubbs) but unlike Stubbs he put up 40/100/100 each year. I like Stubbs. He looks overmatched at times but he'll be good (I think). Just a plug for my boy Dunn . He used to get killed for his Ks like Stubbs is now.
July 3, 201016 yr Definitely a good move to pull Dusty, heck Bronson hadn't throw a pitch in quite a while because of all the runs that they were scoring that inning. Crazy to see the Cubs just completely collapse like that. Ask Mark Prior if he has seen it before

I saw that, but I meant this: Stubbs make me wish they still had Dunn, and I never thought I'd say that. I agree on Stubbs and with THIS team, you can allow him time to figure it out. However, could you imagine a defensive outfield of Gomes, Bruce, and Dunn? Ewwwww. That is more of what I was referring to. You have 7 other guys that can, and obviously will, hit.

July 3, 201016 yr Author Baker on Stubbs. Reds manager Dusty Baker was asked in pre-game about Drew Stubbs, who Baker said is “struggling some.” Stubbs, the regular center fielder, is not in the lineup today. Stubbs’ stats are a mixed bag. He is hitting just .233 but has eight homers and 36 RBI. He is seventh in the NL in strikeouts with 85, but also sixth in the league in steals with 16. His on-base percentage is .308. “His upside potential is amazing,” Baker said. “This ain’t a Willy Taveras situation.” Taveras flopped as the Reds center fielder last year, hitting .240 with one homer, 15 RBI and 25 steals. “People were upset because we were playing Willy, but we were playing Willy because we were tyring to trade Willy,” Baker said. “You can’t trade somebody if he ain’t playing. Not to go back in the past, but don’t that make sense?” Baker said the team continues to work with Stubbs on cutting down his swing and his strikeouts. Coach Billy Hatcher also is working with Stubbs on bunting for hits, and that remains a work in progress also. Baker also noted that bunting for sacrifices and for hits are two different things. “He’s just waiting too long,” Baker said of Stubbs’ strikeouts. “He’s a little bit defensive. He’s waiting to see if it’s a ball and a strike, and you don’t have that kind of time.” http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/category/news-and-notes/
July 3, 201016 yr I hope that my boy Heisey steps up today lol. Do ya'll like the day games? I'm kinda glad they have one today because I have a wedding to go to tonight and would have missed it.
July 3, 201016 yr Tweeted by ESPN’s Buster Olney today: SEA continues to look for big bat potential in a Lee deal, and 2 guys fit the description: Justin Smoak of TEX and Yonder Alonso of the Reds.
July 3, 201016 yr Smoak is already in the bigs, but is hitting .208 with 8 HR & 34 RBI. Alonso is struggling in AAA. Without a doubt, I'd be willing to trade Alonso for Lee. It's just a matter of who else SEA would want...
