We're talking about 16,17 and 18 year old kids. They aren't super human. The Kids at X and T shouldn't be penalized with no competition in their class. They win because their kids bust their humps each and every year, not because of the school name on their uniform.

I agree with you 100%. And the fact they can have kids from every county or state play dosn't hurt.

Good to see you are up on who makes restrictions on the schools. If public schools want to accept out of district, out of county or out of state kids all they have to do is get it ok'd by the local BOE. If you want to know the truth of the matter then read up in the P&P forum, trust me this has come up so many times it is ridiculous.

I frankly have never understood why someone has to be restricted as to which school they have to go to. I feel as though the state money should follow the student no matter which public school they go to, as long at is in state. I don't even care if it followed them to private schools. Out of state students are a different case, but they are rarely impact players (if the students are even athletes). I only knew one from Indiana in the 4 years I was at Trinity and he wasn't an athlete.

You are talking like we have players on our team from Paducah to Belfry and that is ludicrous. Do we have players from neighboring counties? Yes but as long as they are eligible to attend our school and can pay the tuition then I see no reason why they should not be able to do so. In fact if they wanted to come to Louisville and play for Ballard or Male I wouldn't care either. In fact I would be all for it. Also for reference purposes the tuition and "financial aid" issue is irrelevant as well as all of that is need based and handled by an independent third party that makes a recommendation based on the family's level of need. Of course no one gets full aid, period. Since it is handled by a company that has no ties to the school there is no biased influence involved.

I bring that up only because I can tell by your responses that you would likely bring it up as an ill-informed argument to support your point.

I agree with you on some things you said. The money should follow the kids. And this is not the thread.

At the private school I attended, I would say atleast 95% of the students came from the feeder schools around the area. Yes, some came from the county to the east and the west of my school. BUT, all of the kids that came from the county to the west would have come anyway because there isn't a Catholic High school within a reasonable distance to them other than the school I attended. And the ones who came from the East, well it was their choice between a couple of smaller catholic scools and my school. Nobody in my graduating class came from another state. I will add this as well, My junior year we had a solid team and only two impact players(meaning players that started) would have been considered out of the district. And none would have been considered out of the district my senior season.

Keep it on the topic of the best alignment, if you want to debate public/private we have a separate forum for that.

Why can't khsaa listen to us we want four classes back again! It was a great system for the playoffs we have now, why did they change it? Did they even consider what all the coachs wanted or just the few in Louisville.

I voted 6 but I want to change to 5. That's 4 regular classes and then the 1 "super class".

That is my feeling now. the super class would have 16 schools and everybody makes the playoffs and they are seeded 1-8 and higher seeds play at home first week. The super class gets 11 regular season games so they can schedule more at home or go play in the Herbstreit challenge or some other bowl game. I see X, Trinity, Male, Manual, Ballard, Eastern, Simon Kenton, Boone County, Ryle, Dixie Heights, Henry Clay, Highlands, Bowling Green, Scott County,

plus 2 more out of Butler, Prp, Seneca, Oldham County, Dunbar, Lafayette, Marshall County, Meade County, Henderson County, the rest of 6A schools and or possibly Lex Catholic.

That way, it would be great to see a Fern Creek vs Butler in a semifinal game with both teams with a 10-3 record with Male and X off their schedules and a chance to win the new 4A title.

From NKY I would have Cov. Cath in not Dixie. IMO And Highlands would never go for something like this.

I have to go with 5. I would like to see a smaller 1a and 5a pool of teams because that seems to be the 2 areas where the discrepancy in size is the greatest. Maybe take the largest 32 in 5a and the smallest 32 in 1a and then split the other 156 or so teams into the other 3. allow the smaller 1a teams that prefer to move up to 2a do so if they prefer to play in a higher division. If there are 4 teams that utilized that option, then simply take the next smallest 4 to add to the 1a pool. I would also limit the ability to move up to 1 class size. I also think the private schools should have to use a 1.5 factor in determining there classification, but, also allow them to play up 1 class as well, if they so choose. All sized schools should have the option to move up 1 class, so long as it doesn't hinder a particular district from having too few a teams or the district they'd go to to have too many or cause another particular team excessive travel by having to switch districts.

Why do you thinks Highlands would never go for something like that?

Anyone know when the KHSAA will release their new alignments? I like 4 classes the way it use to be. I think if they do a Super class it has to be based on enrollment not wins.

It seems to me that Highlands dosn't want any part of X or T in the regular season. Let alone have to go thru them for a State Championship. As long as they never play them or lose to them they can always say that they are the best in the state. Year after year there is always some reason they can't play them. And yes I know they play 2 classes up already. IMO

Yea, that's Highlands. They don't want to schedule anyone that might beat them.

With Fort Campbell's recent success I can't really complain about six classes, but I do think 4 or 5 would make more sense based on the number of schools.

Its good to know we agree on this one
