May 20, 201016 yr I've wondered the same. There is a club option. I don't know how much $ it is, but I expect the Reds to pick it up... Unless it's outrageous, the club would be stupid not to pick it up. Hopefully Bronson recognizes that he's in a choice position for future winning.
May 20, 201016 yr It's 11 Mil but could be 13 Mil based on IP this year which it doesn't say how many it is. 2 Mil buyout.

May 20, 201016 yr I love Bronson, but I find 11m beyond outrageous. But the 11 Mil he is making this year isn't?
May 20, 201016 yr But the 11 Mil he is making this year isn't? OK, you presented it as though he was making much less this year. That said, I'll take it. Maybe he could be talked into a pay cut, with regular appearances at Southgate House as part of the deal. Just make sure it's only every other week that he's allowed to play.

That sounds like a plan to me and he would probably go for it.
May 20, 201016 yr I would say picking up Arroyo's option will have a lot do with the development of Chapman, and how far along Volquez is.
May 20, 201016 yr I would say picking up Arroyo's option will have a lot do with the development of Chapman, and how far along Volquez is. I would agree, but I hope not. I really hope they understand that having a veteran that takes the ball when it's his turn and throws a ton of strikes is worth the money w/ these young guys. It can't hurt Cueto and Bailey seeing a guy not break 90 but continue getting guys out.
May 20, 201016 yr Every fastball Harang throws is as straight as an arrow. No movement at all. No matter how how fast it is, the worst hitter in the lineup can hit it. I think it is time to swap Harang and Owings and see what happens until Chapman or Volquez is ready. What is there to lose except more games. The last two losses the Reds have is the one's Harang has started.
May 20, 201016 yr I would say picking up Arroyo's option will have a lot do with the development of Chapman, and how far along Volquez is. I have been hard on Arroyo in the past, but he has been outstanding since the All-Star break last year. A one year option worth $11 - $13 million would be money well spent, IMO.
May 20, 201016 yr I'm on the fence with Bronson, it's really a love hate thing. So far this season it's been more love though. Keeping him next season is probably a good idea seeing as he is a veteran whose been around the block a time or two. I think it's also comforting knowing that we should have Volquez at full strength next season. I don't know how the Red's starting pitching will pan out, but it looks like it has got a lot of upside. Also, I've been thinking about Rhodes and Cordero. Rhodes has been lights out this season and Coco has been alright, but they are aging fast which worries me a little. I might be silly to suggest this, but I think Chapman could be developed into an amazing closer. As far as the rest of the bullpen, I think they will be alright as long as they leave Harerra on the side of the road somewhere. While were on the subject, how long are Rollen and Cabrera supposed to be around for? These two guys have been key assets to our success and I really hope they can stick around a few more years.
May 20, 201016 yr Chapman could potentially see some time out of the pen this year, but he will not be made into the closer unless he fails as a starter.
