Yesterday I was defending the Reds decision-making and have been making observations in the threads about how good the Reds pitching have been lately, and that if it continues they could contend all year....So yes, you have been wrong.

Not sure how you can consider the Reds a contender, or were you talking about watching the Mets while they were in town?

Harang gave the Reds pretty much what he's going to give them each time out I think. He's not the pitcher he was a few years ago. I know his spot in the rotation, and his salary doesn't say so, but he's not the Reds #1 starter anymore. I think he's their #5 starter, and I think most teams would take what Harang gave the Reds tonight from their 5th starter.

You sure have changed your tune then. If I remember correctly you have let it be known that the Reds don't have nearly enough talent to compete with the Cardinals. Either they do, or they don't. Which is it?

Exactly why he makes me sick. Could you imagine making 13 million and not even be all that good at your job? Not sure what kind of contract he really has, but if he starts opening day for the Reds next year it'll be a crime. Anyway, hopefully the golden boy will keep it up and pitch a gem tomorrow.

The Braves are one mighty team. Just can't expect to go into Atlanta and win very often.

 

It seems like the Reds went four or five seasons without beating the Braves during the Maddox, Glavine, and Smoltz era.

Seriously, Dusty deserves some credit. He blew up, and the team has been hot ever since. Whether or not he's the reason, I don't know. I doubt it, but the skipper he deserves some recognition for their turnaround; however, the biggest reason is the starting pitching & some timely hitting.

 

How about Jonny Gomes? The guy is on a tear & plays with some emotion. I love it.

 

Rolen has really helped this team, both on & off the field.

Regarding Harang's contract: it expires this year, and I think the team has a $2 buyout...

 

The payroll should be in good shape next year. I'd like to lock up a few young guys if possible.

I've wondered the same. There is a club option. I don't know how much $ it is, but I expect the Reds to pick it up...
