I must say, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Ray Allen. Could use a few less shots of mamma Allen. However, he goes about his business, runs defenders silly rubbing them off screens and only needs a crack to get his shot off. But my favorite thing about Ray is that he doesn't say squat, just plays. Perkins takes a hard foul from Howard, he and Rondo go off about the flagrant nature, but Ray just helps him up and you can read his lips as he simply says "Don't worry about it, make your freethrows". Classy and professional.

I don't know that I've ever seen two teams trade baskets the way the Suns and Lakers have in the 2nd quarter. Both teams are insanely hot from the outside.

I figure not many people are surprised Suns got one, I'm really surprised they got both.

And it's not like the Lakers played terribly. I'd still have to guess the Lakers will win the series, but the Suns have made it interesting.

This game is a bit of a concern. I fully expected them to get the first 1 but not this one.Kobe did all he could do. A series doesn't really start till someone wins on the road.

The Suns' bench brought a fierce defensive intensity. By the 4th quarter, the Lakers quit being patient and the pesky Suns were forcing the Lakers to take poor shots and limited Kobe's touches. Anything inside the three point line the Suns were doubling and begging the Lakers to take outside jumpers.

No faith in Tony Allen? He's had a good playoffs.

 

He can't give them what Posey did, especially offensively from outside. But, I guess I'll wait until LA (and Boston) actually win 4 games and get to the finals before further analyzing their matchup.

I'm not surprised. You never know what you'll get with LA. I didn't think they played that well last night, aside from Kobe. They didn't get much from anyone else. The Phoenix bench was lights out. And, the fact that the rest of the Lakers decided to play keep away from Kobe during the 4th quarter didn't hurt. I liked that strategy. Let's not let the only guy on our team that's playing well get a shot.

Also, the next time people criticize a college team, particularly a young and talented UK squad because they struggle against a zone...remember the Lakers.

Well, it won’t be with Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis(notes) on the floor. It won’t be these Orlando Magic. They’re the reason why the Magic can never come back and win this series, why Dwight Howard(notes) and Jameer Nelson(notes) aren’t enough to make a historic comeback. From those knee-shaking free throws in Game 2, to a complete no-show in Game 3, Carter has played scared, scattered and soulless. Lewis hasn’t been much better.
